We are looking to use our transport resources for those affected by the coronavirus including getting key workers to work and deliveries
With the on-going coronavirus pandemic CTG is looking to change the focus of our project. We are looking to re-focus our transport solutions to assist the vulnerable communities of Glasgow, who are confined to their home at this time, to provide deliveries of shopping, prescriptions.
We also want to look at how we can use our transport resources to enable key workers such as NHS staff who are struggling to get to their work due to lack of public transport.
Community Transport Glasgow is a charity that was established to provide transport solutions to provide relief to communities of Glasgow and its environs, particularly the East End, West of Glasgow and East Dunbartonshire, who are in need due to age, mobility, mental and physical disability, illness and poverty.
CTG provides transport to:
75,000 passengers per annum
Equating to over 125,000 journeys
Transport for older adults, those with a disability or mobility issue and those who are socially isolated
Over 70 Third Sector Group Members
950 Individual Members
70% of our passengers are over the age of 65.
Enables passengers to access health appointments, shopping, exercise classes, lunch clubs, day outings, group clubs
In response to the COVID19 pandemic CTG wants to ensure that, where we can, we maintain our ethos of supporting our local communities, particularly at a time of crisis. Due to the downturn in our transport activity CTG has freed up resources (some drivers and vehicles) that we want to make use of these where required. We want to make use of the spare capacity to provide transport solutions to the local community.
