Survival for City of Leicester Swimming Club is on a knife edge as Leicester continues in Lockdown..!

New stretch target

To expand the reach of the club to allow more children to join and provide improved facilities and enhance training.

The impact of Covid-19 has been felt across the UK and these are hard times for all.

The swimming community has been affected, from county to national level. COVID -19 has halted the club’s revenue streams and children and families have lost not only the facilities they train in, the ability to take part in their chosen sport but also a place to meet with friends and make sporting memories.

Our Ethos and Who We Are

In the heart of Leicester lies a successful swimming club, now in its 42nd year, providing aspirant swimmers from across Leicestershire with the opportunity to realise their full potential in swimming.

City of Leicester Swimming Club ethos is to allow each athlete to follow their aspirations to achieve their goals.  This is delivered through a team of dedicated and inspirational coaching staff; whose continued investment and support of their swimmers enables them to develop into the swimming stars of the future.

Throughout the lockdown period our head coach has continued to provide support by mentoring other local base club coaches and continued to share his knowledge to develop base club land training programmes whilst we are in this current situation. He has provided updates to Leicestershire Amateur Swimming Association and is helping steer the swimming community of Leicestershire back to the pool.

Our swimmers have been motivated by our head coach throughout this journey, completing exercise zooms daily as squads and we hold weekly family quiz nights and bingo nights that are proving very popular!

But we are facing a challenging future

With no end in sight we have suffered significantly reduced cash flow following the cancellation of not only our meets (competitions) but other sporting and social events.

Leicester has been hit by a double blow in that the pools our swimmers use are in the lockdown area, so whilst others are back training on the 25th, our swimmers are not!

Looking ahead to the next stage we are planning how we commence training again. We will need additional funds to manage a safe return to swimming (e.g. maximum pool time to accommodate social distancing measures).

The solution we will drive forward

We are launching a Crowdfunding campaign to help the City of Leicester swimming Club bridge the financial issues now being faced, caused by the coronavirus pandemic, and to help secure the future of the club.

............Your money could go even further!..........

The good news is that Sport England and Crowdfunder have now launched a fund to help clubs- there is up to 50% extra funding available. We have set a target of raising £10000 in the next 4 weeks, so are in with a chance of receiving up to £5000 from Sport England if successful.

How it will help?

For over 40 years, City of Leicester Swimming Club has been successfully providing top quality coaching to swimmers from across Leicestershire from county and regional standard through to national and even International levels.

Although initially helped in it's early stage by financial support from Leicester City Council, the club no longer receives any funding and as a result has had to become self-sustainable.

It is a not a profit -making entity and all income generated goes towards overheads including pool hire, coaching fees, coaching equipment and maintenance costs.

All monies raised raised will help to ensure the club remains financially stable, so that it can continue to serve the athletes currently in the programme and long into the future.

This is why the Crowdfunding campaign is being launched, with a range of prizes/rewards including discounted meet wristbands and programmes at our future meets, dive/start clinics, a new club hat, vouchers, sponsorship opportunities and much more.

Thank you in advance for your support.
