CHARLTON MARSHALL NEW VILLAGE HALL
STOP PRESS: With just 24 hours to go we have received news that, if we can reach 25% by Friday 12noon, we are possibly in line to pick up a match fund from our local county council and also it will put us in a great position to hopefully qualify for an additional £1,000 from M&S!! We are so close - please pledge and help us put some sunshine into our village project - thanks!
After years of fundraising events, writing grant applications and saving all their pennies, the Charlton Marshall Village Hall management team, together with a band of loyal supporters from this small village in the heart of Dorset, is about to see their dream come true: building work on the new community hall starts on Monday 16th July 2018!!
We are doing all we can to boost our green credentials and have planned for solar PV panels, a hybrid air source heat pump, LED lighting and high quality insulation. We have a grant towards half the cost of the solar panels and are looking to raise a good portion, if not all, of the remainder. This is where you can help!
Who We Are
The present village hall in Charlton Marshall in the heart of Dorset was built in the 1930s and after giving
great service over the last 70 years or so with bouts of major redecorating, upgrades to windows, roof, toilets and kitchen, it’s finally showing its age and in need of replacement.
What Have We Been Up To?
The Village Hall management team is made up of volunteers from the village and has been working hard to
ensure the hall is kept up to scratch for the different organisations who have been using it every day, plus organising fundraising events and community events in partnership with volunteers from the village and beyond. It’s been a hub for the village and wider community and has played a part in many lives for many years.
£46k has been raised by the community through fundraising events. However, a major grant of £500k from The Big Lottery has provided the kickstart we needed to get cracking with the new building but there is still money to be raised over the next year and your help with this Crowdfunding project will give us much needed extra funds to go towards solar panels. We are trying to be environmentally friendly!
Who Are We Doing It For?
Groups such as yoga, Zumba, pilates and table tennis, plus short mat bowls, music & movement for parents and toddlers, Cubs and Beavers, Brownies and Rainbows have all made the hall their home over the years and are looking forward to returning to a brilliant, new hall with up-to-date facilities when we reopen this time next year. Plus, there are plans for community groups to use the hall in partnership with local service providers, which will help everyone tap into the support and companionship a buzzing community hub can provide. And we will restart our popular film nights - the nearest cinema is 11 miles away and only accessible in the evenings by car!
Your Support Is Important To Us
We would love you to make a donation, but you might prefer to show your support by ‘Buying A Brick’ – you will receive a certificate acknowledging your pledge - or you can reserve a one hour or two hour session at the new hall next year for a pledge of £50 or £100. Perhaps there’s a family celebration coming up - we would be delighted to help you host a special occasion.
Whatever you are able to do, your support will be very much appreciated as we all work to make the new hall the modern asset this rural community can be proud of now and way into the future.
