Who we are
C Fylm is Cornwall's film club network. Our mission is to support community groups across Cornwall to show films for their local audience. Part of how we do this is by providing touring cinema kits to turn any venue into a pop-up film club, and teaching our volunteer organisers how to use them. We also help with the cost and booking of film licences, marketing, technical advice, and event organisation. Whatever our groups need, we are there to help every step of the way.
As well as providing a brilliant cinema experience in rural areas without screen provision, C Fylm screenings are all about community. We have tea and cakes, sometimes enjoy a drink at the village hall bar, and it's a chance to chat to friends and neighbours - or meet someone new! Our audiences are as varied and diverse as Cornwall's population, and we are proud to particularly help provide less mobile people, and people who are unable to travel, a cinema on their doorstep.
When audiences come to a C Fylm screening, they become a member not only of their own film club, but of the whole network of 34 film clubs. Before Covid we were hosting over 365 screenings a year, so there are plenty of events to choose from! It costs £6 to join for a year, and that money keeps the C Fylm project running, and goes back into helping the communities that we work with.
Why we need your help
Like many creative and community organisations, Covid has had a big impact on us. We had to cancel all of our planned events from March onwards. Without membership income from these events, we don't have the vital funds we need to continue our work, and make much needed repairs and upgrades to our cinema equipment.
We need your help to make sure our cinema kits are ready to bring film to communities across Cornwall, and to ensure that we are still here for years to come in a time when community matter mores than ever.
Can you help us? If you are able, please donate today so we are still here tomorrow. Thank you.
