Raise money to support Bristol’s music scene and artists impacted by COVID-19 by watching our live streamed music festival.

by Bristol Music Trust in Bristol, England, United Kingdom

New stretch target

100% of our initial target will be split 50/50 between artists involved and Bristol music venues in collaboration with Music Venue Trust.

If we reach our initial target, any further money we raise will help further benefit artists and music venues by being put towards creating future digital music festivals like Bristol Takeover Online and a city-wide event when we are able to reopen.

In 2017 and 2019 Colston Hall presented Bristol Takeover - two one day mini-festivals that celebrated Bristol's fresh new talent alongside established names.

Now, as is the case with many other industries, our live music sector is under threat from the impacts of the global Coronavirus pandemic. In response to this a collection of Bristol's music artists and venues, plus some specially invited guests, have teamed up for a live streamed festival to support the live music scene in the city.

Part of Music Venue Trust’s Save Our Venues campaign and hosted by radio presenters Richard Pitt and Sam Bonham, Bristol Takeover Online is 9 hours of back-to-back live streamed music featuring some amazing local artists and established names; broadcast from their home to yours. Streaming live from 3pm on Saturday 23 May 2020.

The festival is presented by Colston Hall in partnership with The Louisiana, Thekla, The Fleece, Exchange, St George’s Bristol, Trinity, Crofters Rights, The Old England, O2 Academy, Rough Trade Bristol and more.

This live streamed festival is free to watch, but we ask that you donate what you might normally spend on a gig ticket.

50% of donations will support participating artists, 50% of donations will support Bristol music venues in collaboration with Music Venue Trust.

The impact of the outbreak is likely to last a long time for artists and venues as it will take time to move safely back towards live events. Bristol is a live music city, let's make sure it can stay that way.

Save Our Venues Campaign

Bristol Takeover Online is part of Music Venue Trust’s Save Our Venues campaign.

Save Our Venues is a new national campaign to save hundreds of grassroots music venues at imminent risk of being closed down – permanently.

Without these independent venues the live music scene in the UK will die. These grassroots venues play a crucial role in the development of British music, nurturing local talent, providing a platform for artists to build their careers and develop their music and their performance skills. These venues also play a vital role in the cultural and economic vibrancy of any village, town or city.
