On 29th May 2020, the BELAZU FOUNDATION is hosting a four-course online charity cook along dinner to raise much-needed funds for our wonderful charity partner, CHEFS IN SCHOOLS.
Every £70 raised could fund 60 nutritious meals to be delivered to families most in need.
WHY WE’RE DOING THIS
The Belazu Foundation was set up by top chef supplier Belazu Ingredient Company to support charities that help schools and families implement a positive food culture. We regularly work with Chefs in Schools, as well as our ongoing partners, Iffley Academy, School Food Matters and the Zakoura Foundation.

Chefs in Schools is an incredible charity that aims to place professional, restaurant-trained chefs in primary schools in order to transform their food, food culture and food education. During the corona crisis, Chefs in Schools is working tirelessly to ensure nutritious food reaches the families who need it most.

Since lock down began, the number of households with children going hungry has doubled – that’s over a fifth of families unable to access enough food. With schools closed, 500,000 children eligible for Free School Meals are currently going without.
Chefs in Schools is helping schools to produce and distribute weekly lunch boxes to children and their families. The chefs run the kitchens, overseeing a team of volunteers and school staff to cook nutritious meals. Each food crate contains a week’s worth of freshly cooked lunches for each child and their family, plus fruit, vegetables and other essentials such as rice, pasta and bread.
They are currently supporting 12 schools in London to produce over 14,000 lunches each week for children on Free School Meals and their families. They are also setting up a delivery scheme to increase uptake and ensure the most vulnerable families receive nutritious food each week.
“We delivered the last boxes today we had lots of tears of gratitude. If only I could ever convey just how much of a difference you guys have made.”
Money raised from the virtual fundraising dinner and this fundraising page will enable Chefs in Schools to double and even triple their reach in the coming months. We want to ensure that their support continues through the summer holidays when we know families will be particularly vulnerable to food shortages.
