New stretch target

We will be able to introduce another beehive if we are able to hit our Strech Target of £1250 helping to further safeguard and protect our biodiversity & ecosystem + enabling us greater opportunity for community engagement about bees!

We run a community farm in Harlow Essex which offers anyone the opportunity to grow food organically alongside a brilliant team of volunteers. Last year we introduced our first beehive to the community farm which is thriving and we would like to introduce 2 more hives to the farm.

Bees are a crucial part of our ecosystem as without them the number of plants would rapidly decline and our vibrant biodiversity would be at risk, to the detriment of all life on Earth.

We are passionate about protecting the biodiversity and one way which we can help to do this is by introducing more beehives to our farm.

More bees means more pollination for flowers and food crops. Since introducing our first beehive we have seen an increase in harvests which we are sure having the bees on the farm has helped to do and so by introducing further hives will increase our harvest further and as a result more people in our community benefiting from fresh fruits & veggies! + harlow has many brilliant allotment which will also benefit from an increase of beehives.

With the money raised we will purchase:

  • Two new beehives.
  • Beekeeping equipment including suits and tools.
  • Beekeeping training with Harlow Beekeeping Association.
  • Resources to educate the community including local school in the importance of bees for our ecosystem.

An additional aim of this project is to encourage the cultivation of wild flowers around the colonies/hives and we will plant a variety of these wild flowers around the community farm.
