To raise extra funds to cover the impact of COVID-19. And to support our Junior Section.

by Paul Greenwood in Blidworth, England, United Kingdom

New stretch target

If we achieve our original target, any further money will be put to the renovations of the facilities. This will help with the expansion of the Junior section of the club. Providing a better experience for the Junior members.

Blidworth Colliery Welfare Cricket Club is a local cricket club in Nottinghamshire. The club is open to all and is ran entirely by volunteers. Our aim as a community club is to encourage a greater participation in cricket, both physically and socially across the whole of our local community.

The club runs a successful Junior section, but we would love to expand this to encompass as many of the local young community as possible. We would like to be able to bring young players in and help them mature into young adult players and continue to play at our club. Across the club we have in excess of 80 members.

Community Outreach

We are an active social hub for the local community and our facilities are shared with Blidworth Miners Welfare Bowling Club. We host yearly community events to help raise money. We strive to engage and support as many of the local community as possible, both cricket and non-cricket playing through our friendly and inclusive environment.

Impact of Covid-19

Blidworth Colliery Welfare Cricket Club has always been self-sufficient, however, the ongoing COVID pandemic is having a big impact on our income. 95% of our income comes from match day income, this income covers our outgoings for the year. Most of these outgoing costs have still had to be paid, Ground upkeep, machinery maintenance etc. Of course, this has had a massive impact on the club funds and our income levels have dropped dramatically.

Any money raised through this crowdfunding page will therefore help us cover our annual ‘Fixed’ running costs which primarily include £2,000 ground maintenance. If we raise enough money we would like to put whatever remains towards Pavilion facility upgrades to ensure we can expand our Junior team sections.

How can you help?

As a volunteer-run club, we need to generate donations from members, families, friends and the wider community to help us cover these costs and more importantly ensure that the club can survive this pandemic and continue to provide cricket for the community into the future.

You can donate whatever you feel comfortable with, we are more than aware that the current pandemic has hit the whole community hard. We welcome all support, big or small and have the following to gift back to those who donate.

If you Donate….

£10.00 you will receive a 100 Club number for 1 month.

£17.00 you will receive a number on the bat raffle.

£25.00 you will be entered in a draw for 10 free pints at the Welfare bar.

**For these Rewards please ensure you select Reward before making your Donation.**

Everyone who donates above £10.00 you will be entered into a draw for a voucher for a meal for 2 with wine, at The Black Bull in Blidworth.

Many thanks for your continuing support.
