Bach Project 48

Aim

In 2021 I'll play the whole of Bach's epic "48", 48 times, once in each of England's 48 counties, raising funds for musical charities.

In 2021, I will be performing Bach’s epic “48” (the Well-Tempered Clavier). 48 times. Once in each of the 48 counties of England.

Bach wrote this massive and magnificent collection “for the benefit and use of the musical youth eager to learn, as well as for the special pastime of those already skilful in this study.” This project will be fundraising for musical charities who provide much-needed help to those same categories of people today – musicians young and old.

Musicians have been particularly hard-hit by the pandemic so this support is needed now more than ever. Project 48 will be supporting Help Musicians, Youth Music, Live Music Now and Future Talent.

Please help me make this project happen! I am crowdfunding to cover the travel costs associated with the project (getting to all 48 counties during the year clocks up a lot of miles!), so that the funds raised at each performance can go directly towards the nominated charities.

This is some of the most extraordinary music ever written, and it will be a remarkable experience living with it so intensely for a year. And for all of us emerging from 2020, having more Bach in our lives can only help!
