The Cutlers Arms is part of a national initiative launched by Music Venue Trust to prevent the closure of hundreds of independent music venues.
As most of our Cutlers family is aware the last 12 months has had it's trials and tribulations. We had a severe fire that closed us for a week and affected a sell out gig, we claimed on insurance but also put every penny we had into getting the pub back up and running after our insurance limit didn't cover the whole damage costs. This has left us in an uncomfortable position now we're facing closure from covid19. Our venue faces closure due to having zero income and no reserves due to the previous fire last June. We still face ongoing bills with no rent deferral, this will all help us to ensure we can survive this hardship and keep all our staff in jobs. We have been refused a government loan as these are backed by the bank and they are deeming pubs high risk, the furlough scheme has been implemented to keep our outgoings as low as we can. Our insurance does not cover us and the government grant has been soaked up due to being left with a huge stock bill after our sell out gig was cancelled. We're still working hard behind the scenes to ensure that we come back with a bang whenever that may be. We're trying to remain positive and hope that with all your support we can make the comeback we dream of.
Your donations will be used to ensure that the Cutlers' can re-open again. We are using it to pay rent and our rates that are ongoing. We are working hard to get funding, loans etc but securing the finances we need to keep us going for however long we're closed (which none of us know how much longer that will be) is proving difficult. We never wanted to get to this point but we really do need everyone's help!
If we hit our target, and we can prevent the closure of our venue, everything above the amount we need will be donated to the Music Venue Trust GMV Crisis Fund to protect other venues just like ours, right across the country.
