Aim

To raise funds for the long awaited expansion of brand new studios to provide more opportunities for the arts in Camden.

WHAT’S OUR STORY?

As a team of musicians, dancers, and actors, we know what a struggle it can be to find affordable creative spaces in London - there’s really only so much you can do in your bedroom! 

Without a safe space to rehearse, train, and allow our talents to flourish, we won’t have amazing artists, creators, and performers showcasing their work on stage, online or anywhere there is a platform. At Academy Mews, we want to make sure that everyone has an opportunity to make their artistic voice heard.

Camden is London’s creative hub - and the Studios have been a vital part of that since 2011, supporting the arts first as a music school, and then as a multi-purpose studio offering space for everyone from concert pianists to rock bands, jazz crooners to opera divas, Shakespeare companies to improv troupes, burlesque queens to ballet dancers, fashion photographers to yoga instructors… and just about anything else you can think of!

We are so proud and grateful to have built long-lasting and fulfilling relationships with clients from all industries who have been with us from the very beginning. And we look forward to continuing to build new relationships as we grow and move forward!

Academy Mews Dance Studios used to be called London’s best kept secret. Well, now that the secret is out, we need to expand and build more studios in order to meet the demand for centrally-located, affordable, high quality creative spaces. 

Our dream has always been to build a community where artists of all disciplines can thrive and feel completely at home - and with your help, we can make that dream a reality.

WHY?

The demand for rehearsal spaces is growing all the time, especially since studios (particularly those in Camden borough) have been closing down left and right since 2014.

We already have a waiting list of dance, music, theatre, and fitness organisations requiring space for their ventures, and we are striving to update our facilities to accommodate their needs and help support their businesses and communities.

Our goal is to build more studios to house more creatives and give them more and better spaces to hold their amazing rehearsals, classes, workshops, jam sessions, photo shoots, and meetings. With more space, we’ll also be in a better position to offer free or subsidized rehearsal space to up-and-coming theatre and dance companies, or to offer free workshops for Camden residents who might normally feel excluded from the arts.

Our studios are unique because we cater to all artistic industries: theatre, film, dance, music, visual art, photography, and even health and fitness - and we focus on building a community. Clients who use the studios always comment on the energy of the building, and how powerful and inspiring it always is when the studios are busy and bustling.

This is an exciting opportunity for the studios to grow and advance, so that we can offer an enhanced experience for our clients: more studios, more amenities, and overall better value for money.

New features will include:

• 2 additional Balcony-sized studios (18.5m x 5.5m)

• Changing rooms and showers

• Storage lockers

• Fixed ballet barres

• Water fountain

• Dimmable lights in studios

• Soft flooring

• ...and more!
