Climate change is a scary prospect to face, especially for young people. The news is constantly filled with negative statistics around global warming, species decline and the loss of natural spaces which is terrifying even for adults. 

Many of us are looking to do our bit to help, such as using less plastic, switching off the lights, and making changes to our diet. But this isn’t always possible which is something that Project Pollenize unstands. They wanted to offer the public an exciting way to take action while empowering the younger generation to be a driving force in creating a healthier planet. 

They wanted to get a packet of seeds into the hands of every school child in Plymouth, creating growth across the city to help insects and pollinators to thrive. Though, to do this, they needed at least £60,000 which they hoped to raise through crowdfunding.

Better yet, by raising money with us, Project Pollenize had the opportunity to receive extra funding from Plymouth City Council towards their idea. They also took part in our Plymouth Climate Challenge LIVE event where their idea was put forth in front of a panel of judges, along with two other planet-saving ideas. 

Overall, this incredible project raised £75,183, including £47,750 from our extra funding partners. 

Their work in Plymouth will help empower the next generation and create a better habitat for our wildlife which is why we included them in our first TV adventure.
