Five marathon fundraising tips

Are you getting ready to give your marathon, half-marathon or fun-run your all? Check out our top marathon fundraising tips to help you raise the most for your charity.

At Crowdfunder, we’re donating £26 to every running fundraiser created on Crowdfunder!* Plus, when you fundraise with us, your supporters can donate their Nectar points to your cause, meaning more money for your chosen charity!

Not sure where to start? Here are five fundraising tips to get you started.

1. Start fundraising early

When it comes to your marathon fundraiser, you want to set up your page as soon as possible. You see, the sooner you begin, the more money you’ll be able to raise for your chosen charity. Plus, it will help take some of the pressure off and you’ll be able to focus on your training.

2. Tell your story

Use your fundraising page as an opportunity to tell your story and let people know why your chosen charity is close to your heart. This will encourage people to donate to your fundraiser and share the page with their friends, family, and wider network.

3. Let the charity know what you’re doing

Once your marathon fundraiser is live, make sure to let your chosen charity know that you’re fundraising on their behalf. You can do this by tagging them on social media! This way, they might be able to share your page and expand your reach.

4. Don’t be afraid to ask for donations

As soon as your fundraiser is live, send it to your closest friends and family and ask them to be the first to donate. We always say that fundraising is a bit like a party because no one wants to be the first to arrive. By getting a few donations on your page before you post it on social media or send it out to your wider network, it will encourage others to donate too.

Remember, it’s all for a good cause, so don’t be afraid about asking for donations.

5. Organise a fundraising event

In person events are a great way to get donations and tell people about what you’re doing. It doesn’t need to be anything fancy or time consuming! For example, you could arrange a bake sale at your school, work, or just out in your community.

Once your fundraiser is live and has reached the required milestones, don’t forget to claim your £26 from us. Best of luck!
