Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Digital Skills Partnership's #Kit4KidsCornwall Campaign

In 2020, the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Digital Skills Partnership launched an urgent crowdfunding initiative to provide digital kits for thousands of Cornish children who lacked access to a computer or WiFi at home. With schools closed due to the COVID-19 lockdown, many students were deprived of the online learning opportunities they desperately needed while being required to stay at home.

The #Kit4KidsCornwall campaign successfully reached its goal, raising a total of £76,905. This included £6,045 in +Extra funding from the Cornwall Council's Community Chest Fund. The combined support from donors and the council made a significant impact. Schools and young people across Cornwall were able to engage in digital learning during the lockdown, and the initiative helped ensure long-term access to essential digital resources, bridging the digital divide in the region.
