The Long Lasting Winter

Aim

The Long Lasting Winter is a photographic project I am making from continually walking a footpath around the idyllic Blue Bell hill. Through using the medium of photography I have been capturing the environment of Blue Bell hill throughout this seemingly never-ending winter. Capturing images through January to the current day, my images showcase the weather and the effects it has been having on the environment this far into the year. I plan to make a book from my photographs, one in which I hope will act as a documentation of The Long Lasting Winter . I need funding to help me produce quality printed books of this documentation. This project is based around journeys, from the journey from winter to spring, to the journey I go on every time I walk the footpath around Blue Bell hill. I therefore want the book I produce to be a journey itself whilst viewing it; it will take you from the snow-covered hilltops to the first signs of spring. The books will be hand held size so easily carried, so if wanted they can be taken on a journey themselves. Thank you for taking an interest in my project and I hope you will support my cause. About the project owner

My name is Samantha Shipton. I am currently studying photography: Contemporary Practice at the University for the Creative Arts in Rochester. I have a great interest in landscape photography and the change within the environments around me and therefore have enjoyed producing this project into a book. I am currently on my second year and “The Long Lasting Winter” is my final project for this term.
