The esCape Project is designed to provide refugee children in Lesvos with small tokens of childhood they have lost on their hard journey
We are raising funds for a production of capes for refugee children in Lesvos, Greece. Our aim is to create a warm/waterproof garment that will help to shield children from weather elements, as well as provide a small mental escape from the horrors they are facing.
Whilst physical turmoil of a refugee's life can be devastating, with help of medical doctors and volunteers, eventually wounds will heal. Sadly emotional wounds are often left untreated and can lead to a life lasting agony. There aren't enough trained volunteers to provide people with psychological support they so desperately need, and that’s where our little orange capes come in.
Each cape will have a pocket filled with a small pad, crayons, stickers, teddy and some fun and healthy yummies. By adding few little pieces of childhood into each cape’s pocket, we are hoping to allow a child to escape the harsh reality, and be allowed to be a child once more.
