Aim

Do you love your community? Keep it clean and safe with us. Report road and community issues in real time like potholes and lighting defects

Project Aim

Our aim is to encourage people to report road and street faults as quickly and as easily as possible to help keep our roads and communities safe. With transparency we offer a simple way to engage with local authorities and the highways agency to inform them about road and community defects whilst keeping you informed of progress.

About The Project

Street and Road Fault Reporting Made Easy

Think about the last time you noticed an enormous pothole, a broken street light or a fresh patch of graffiti? Maybe you thought someone ought to do something about it. Then a few weeks later, when you realised the problem was still there, you were probably wondering why the local authority hadn't fixed it yet. Local authorities often rely on residents to report minor street-level faults. If the local authority doesn't know a fault exists, it can't fix it.

We track all reports made via our systems and can easily identify if a report has been received or even opened by a local authority. Street Repairs will send a gentle reminder at specific times to ensure the report is received, read and actioned accordingly using a simple traffic light indication reminder.

The website is a transparent online reporting system. We launched the public facing website at the start of 2014, and already we're getting on average 16,729 visits each month. We've also teamed up with The RAC and The Moneysupermarket , who've installed Street Repairs API on their websites. The website is fully operational and can handle reports nationwide it can also be adapted for any country worldwide.

We're now ready to begin shouting about it and need Crowdfunder funding for further development to take us to the next level.

Safety for your community was at the forfront of our thinking.

The Street Repairs app can identify a user’s location using the mobile phones GPS. It then instantly recognises which council or local authority to send the report through to in real time. With location markers and the ability to highlight dangerous defects this app will be a must have on your phone. Up to three photos can be quickly uploaded to show defects in great detail. Our app will then compile a detailed report on your behalf and send it to the appropriate authority. We give you the ability to showcase your report to your friends and family via social media channels.

We give you the opportunity to make changes for the better to your community and your roads.

Why We Developed Street Repairs

Our company has a passion for keeping local environments safe and attractive.

When we pitched our idea to government they said that building a centralised, independent national fault reporting system would be expensive and impractical.

Street Repairs was born from a desire to show how crowd sourcing works using technology and social media in the modern digital age. It now delivers such a service to both local residents, local authorities and the nation.

Built with donations, technical advice and manpower generously provided from a small software company in Leyland, Lancashire, Street Repairs has now become the fastest growing fault reporting system in the UK.

Now we need the funding to promote Street Repairs to the nation and take it to the next level.

Success So Far

When we first launched Street Repairs in January 2014, we knew that a centralised independent street fault reporting system was needed for the UK so we trademarked the brand, but what we didn't predict was its rapid rise in popularity.

With no marketing budget we launched on Facebook, and in a year we attracted 40000 followers which is testament to the public backing us socially.

Feedback from people who use the system say that it is transparent, easy to use, clear, fast, and very intuitive.

We are currently receiving on average 16,729 visits each month, which is expected to rise sharply thanks to a new partnership with community giants like The RAC and MoneySuperMarket who have embedded Street Repairs into their websites using the recently developed API which is a white label software plugin for website owners.

Our Vision For The Future

We need to raise awareness among the public of the importance of reporting street and road faults to identify real safety issues, and how easy it is to report these issues through Street Repairs. We have launched an API to enable website owners to install Street Repairs directly onto their website. We will work closely with interested third parties, such as motoring organisations, insurance companies, fleet owners, cycling clubs, and charities to raise the visibility of Street Repairs across the web.

The People Behind Street Repairs

Just two software lads with an idea that was brought to reality in the UK.  From the outset all we wanted to do is keep streets and roads safe, clean and well-maintained.

There’s myself Colin Mahoney, having 20 years experience of digital marketing encompassing software and programming knowledge.

Then there’s my friend, software engineering Kosta Tsvetanov who has worked in the field of software engineering and code development for over eight years.

Why We Need Your Help With Funding

Street Repairs is ready to handle submissions from across Great Britain, so now it's time to raise awareness. With your support we are aiming to raise funding of £6,000.

We want to allocate a proportion of the money raised for further development bringing Street Repairs to the attention of the general public, and local authorities and explaining why it's important residents and the authorities get involved in identifying problems in their neighborhood. This can be achieved by utilizing a proven and tested method using social media channels. With local authorities we need to demonstrate how Street Repairs can work with their internal systems, to improve engagement with their community and to assist them in making repairs and maintenance and safety issues more efficient.

Crowd funding seemed the logical way to raise funds for this creative and intuitive venture, which seeks to improve local neighbourhoods and the road network across Great Britain.
