Hit The Deck - Strathmore Cricket Club

Hit The Deck aims to create a new elevated spectator viewing deck, accessibility improvements and an accessible toilet #MoreThanCricket

We did it!

On 15th Jun 2017 we successfully raised £1,910 with 29 supporters in 35 days

What are we trying to do?

For the past few years we have been investing in improving the facilities at Strathmore Cricket Club to make it a community hub fit for the 21st century. We have installed a new underfloor heating system, replaced windows and improved digital connectivity and audiovisual facilities so we can offer something for different sections of the community. We are about #MoreThanCricket.

Our project seeks to improve the spectator experience by creating a new raised viewing deck and improve accessibility to the club with an access ramp and accessible toilet. The viewing deck and windows to improve access will cost us around £14,000 which we are seeking to fund through a combination of our own reserves, this appeal and grant funding.

How much do we need?

We are looking to raise £5000 to put towards the raised viewing deck and patio doors needed to access the new deck. The viewing deck will improve the view of the cricket field and will allow the premises to expand to bring the outside into the clubhouse.

Reasons to be bowled over by our project!

  • Sports and social hub - We are in the west end of the town, on the edge of the Forfar Loch Country Park and we want our space to become a real part of the community - we are keen to see Lochside Park and its facilities used for even more social, learning and leisure activities
  • Events - We want to bring Forfar to life and contribute to the growing annual events programme in the town. We want to see our venue enjoyed by even more local people!
  • Youth - We are keen to develop our youth cricket and to broaden that out to offer year round youth work activities. We’d even consider rounders and baseball on our turf!
  • Businesses - We believe that a thriving Lochside Park can make a real contribution to the economic life of the town.

You can be our all rounder and make our field of dreams a reality!  In return for your pledges we have some fabulous rewards to bowl you over!

A bit more about us

Strathmore Cricket Club has been playing organised cricket in Forfar for 163 years and is a founder member of the Strathmore Cricket Union. We have enjoyed success on the field and have hosted a number of first class cricket fixtures between Scotland and some of the major English County cricket sides.

We own our own ground at Lochside Park, which is the envy of many Scottish clubs.

So, we’ve been around for a long time and plan to be here for a long time to come. But it’s time to move in to the next phase of our development and make it possible for even more people to enjoy our facilities and our sport.
