Kingsley Abrams, an ex-Labour councillor who spoke our against local cuts in the borough, is standing for Left Unity-TUSC in Prince's Ward on May 7th.
Kingsley is keen to be a voice for those people who are appalled at the councils cuts budget, including the closure of several local libraries. Durning library in Prince's Ward is scheduled to have nearly all its funding cut and to be run by volunteers. But it isn't only cuts that is the problem. Housing in Lambeth is in a terrible state. Rents are too high which means exploitative landlords are racking in huge sums of money from people who can barely afford to pay. House prices have gone through the roof which means that many people cannot afford to live in the place where they grew up in.
Across Lambeth gentrification is tearing our communities apart. Kingsley is standing to be a voice on the council against the selling off of Lambeth. We need to save our libraries, save our services and save Lambeth from the Labour run council and their sweetheart deals with property developers.
"Lambeth Labour Council under Steve Reed and Cllr. Lib Peck is notorious for making cuts in jobs and services in Lambeth." Said Kingsley "Only a few weeks ago Lambeth Labour voted through a further £90m cuts. I was disciplined by Steve Reed and Cllr. Lib Peck for making a stand against cuts as a former Labour Councillor. I am now standing for Left Unity / TUSC in this by-election. There is always an alternative to cuts and misery."
