On 22nd November 2016, Arun District Council (ADC) revoked our premises licence due to the potential of causing a public nuisance and serving drinks without food. They say we are advertising as a music venue when our licence is as a restaurant. A 1984 ruling says there is no definition of what a restaurant is, and a 2012 ruling says nowhere needs a licence for live music. Six complaints were received in six months about noise.
We intend to appeal this decision, and have the full support of the Music Venues Trust. However, our legal fees will be around £3k.
in addition to this, and to support our appeal, we need to install sound proofing. This will cost within the region of £2k
We have set up this crowdfunder to help raise the money for this. We are looking to raise around £5k in total. As a small business in the local community, we need your support. All pledges and donations will be very gratefully received.
