Revival Retro is an award-winning boutique in London's West End. Our style is inspired by beautiful bygone eras: the elegant designs of the 1930s, the feminine tailoring of the 1940s and the powerful silhouettes of the 1950s with a focus on those special and different pieces you can’t find on the high street.
In 2019, thanks to our loyal base of friends and fans, we celebrated our tenth anniversary and now, just a few months later, we are fighting for our survival.
The current global Coronavirus pandemic is hitting everyone hard and sadly our independent shop is not eligible for a government cash grant. As a retailer, a bricks and mortar shop, in the fashion industry, there is plenty stacked against us in finance applications to the big banks too. As a female entrepreneur I, Rowena, the owner of Revival Retro, know all too well the standard responses to my enquiries and I'm proud I've managed to bootstrap this far. I have put everything I have into the business and have no assets or savings to fall back on to support Revival Retro with, which is why I have set up this Pay It Forward Crowdfunder.
We believe the most important part of a small business is its people.
Supporting our Pay It Forward Crowdfunder will help Revival Retro:
- Save jobs and support livelihoods. We want to bring back all our staff from furlough as soon as reasonably possible.
- Pay our suppliers. Many of the businesses we stock, and support such as the factories in London where we produce our Own Range of clothing, are small businesses themselves who are also struggling. Being able to pay them in a timely fashion at this crucial point would be invaluable to them and us.
- Help us to reopen the doors of our boutique, when it is safe to do so, and not become yet another statistic of closures on the British high street.
We want to build a business for the future that benefits the local neighbourhood, the British economy, sustainable and ethical industry and, most of all, our amazing patrons.
We are special and different, and we have purpose:
We believe in bricks AND clicks. There is such great value to face to face relationships. We know many of our regulars on a first name basis. We have international customers who make pilgrimages to our store. We are here to listen and offer expert advice in person or online. We will do everything reasonably possible to continue to offer a physical shop you can visit as well as a website you trust and enjoy. We want to continue to offer the amazing service and support you know and love.
We offer fantastic products that are worth the money. We began the design development for our own range of products in 2017 based on customers' feedback and requests and they launched to immediate success. We've quickly expanded while staying true to our values: quality clothes that last, British made, and a level of consistency that maintains the trust and respect that our customers have placed in us. It’s important to us to take a more considered approach to people and the planet and we really try hard to make the best decisions when it comes to how and who we choose to do business with. As well as our own range we resell a curated selection of the best suppliers in our niche.
Whether you want to offer a small donation, pay it forward by purchasing a voucher now to redeem later, or to invest in a small business you believe in, we greatly appreciate your support. No contribution is too small. Everything that is in your power to give, even just sharing this campaign with others, is appreciated.
We are determined that Revival Retro will survive!
