A Place For The Community

The Fire

The joys of Bonfire Night in the City of Wells, Somerset came to a very upsetting and distressing end when four years of planning, negotiation and construction went up in flames. When Police confirmed it was an arson attack it compounded the shock and disbelief of residents across Somerset.

Two fire engines were despatched from Wells but the structure was beyond saving.

This Crowdfunder appeal was set up to assist in the reconstruction and to improve the playground safety to make it a safe and welcoming area. Including better CCTV, Lighting, Improved seating and visibility. All funds raised will be given directly to this cause.

"I don't know how I'm going to break the news to my girls" Kerry Devane, Wells.

The play area had only just opened and the heartbreak and disappointment among the children and families of Wells and visitors was a painful blow.

Wells Rallies

Wells is a indeed a strong community with real heart and residents have a true sense of being part of where they live. After the initial upset and anger, individuals, families and business from across Somerset and further afield rallied together with offers of help to solve the issue as quickly as possible.

"Let's show what the people of Wells are really about - and turn this tragedy into a triumph." Ella Broderick, Wells resident
