We did it!

WE ARE NOW LOOKING TO RAISE £5,000 TO HELP US RE-ELECT KIRSTEN. CAN YOU HELP?

Raising funds to re-elect Kirsten Oswald as the SNP Member of Parliament for East Renfrewshire

 The candidate

Kirsten Oswald lives in East Renfrewshire with her family, and her children go to school locally. Kirsten worked at a senior level in Human Resource Management for many years. Kirsten was a keen community activist prior to her election.

The political situation

In May 2015, Kirsten defeated Scottish Labour leader, Jim Murphy, in the shock election result of the night. This time, both Labour and the Tories are targeting East Renfrewshire. The Tories are hoping voters will ignore the Brexit and social policy disaster unfolding at Westminster. Labour also has some explaining to do, after their candidate described Jeremy Corbyn as “unfit to lead” “petty” and “irresponsible”.

It would not be in the interests of East Renfrewshire communities to send either of these candidates to Westminster. One would become voting fodder for a hard Brexit that damages Scotland’s interests. The other would become embroiled in Labour’s civil war. To ensure we return a strong voice for East Renfrewshire and Scotland, we need your help to re-elect Kirsten Oswald.

Over the past two years, Kirsten has put the communities of East Renfrewshire on Westminster’s agenda as never before. She has also been the SNP Spokesperson for Armed Forces and Veterans. Kirsten has been a leading figure in all party groups on Young Disabled People, supporting victims of the £100m Connaught Fund scandal, the use of Drones in warfare, and the Chennai 6, veterans serving five years in an Indian jail.

Kirsten has contributed to more debates than most MPs, has run busy surgeries across East Renfrewshire, organised local meeting and events, and helped thousands of constituents with issues of concern.

The campaign

Following the announcement by Theresa May of a snap general election, local SNP members are gearing up to help Kirsten fight this election. There is no doubt Kirsten’s opponents will run well-funded campaigns, with much of the money coming from outside East Renfrewshire. Local SNP branches, members, and supporters will fund our campaign, so we need your help to win.

What do we need money for?

In the next few weeks, we will leaflet the entire constituency a number of times. We will also write to constituents. It is vital that we get accurate information out to voters and make it easy for them to contact us.

We also want to give window posters, stickers, and badges to any supporter that would like to show their support.

We have secured great premises at a prominent location to give the campaign a central hub where people can drop in to help get Kirsten elected.

Your donation will make a difference to our ability to do all of these things, and to do them well.

Donating

You can donate any amount. Please be assured that any donation, however small or large, will make a real difference and help us secure a win in East Renfrewshire

If you are kind enough to donate more than £50 to our campaign, we must check your name and address against the electoral register to ensure you are eligible to donate. Your name, but not your address, will be made available by the Returning Officer on request after the election.
