Perinatal Positivity

An animated film to emotionally prepare families and promote mental wellness through pregnancy and beyond.

Unfortunately, this project was not successful

Having a child is life-changing, but for some people it can be a particularly difficult time. 1 in 5 mothers and and 1 in 10 dads will experience problems with their mental wellbeing during pregnancy and after birth. We ALL know someone who has been affected. Often people don't talk about it, or know why it is happening.

HOW WE CAN HELP

We want to make a 5 minute animated film called Perinatal Positivity aimed at families to be. The film will reach thousands of people across the UK and beyond. It will help families think about their mental health in the time before, during and after childbirth.

The film will also suggest practical ways to keep positive and ideas on how people can talk about how they are really feeling during this time. Through the film we can promote mental wellness and emotional resilience to help people keep positive through pregnancy and after birth, so they can be emotionally prepared and find the support they need.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

We need to raise £30,000 to make and market the film. With your help we can make sure that ALL expectant and new parents are informed and able to look after their emotional wellbeing during pregnancy, birth and beyond!

It is an all or nothing project and we need your help, if we don’t raise the full funds, you don’t pay anything! Please support Perinatal Positivity.

Funds over our target will go towards more films and resources about mental health in the perinatal period.  With your continued support we will make make more resources including films about birth trauma, postpartum psychosis (for women who are more at risk) and dads mental health.

ABOUT THE FILM

The film will be made in collaboration with medical professionals and people who have experienced perinatal mental health of all natures, and will be a valuable resource of tried and tested ways to keep positive and bring people through this potentially difficult time.

We'll be working closely with medical professionals and families exploring ideas, tools and thinking to promote wellness in the perinatal period. ForMed will then work with a highly skilled team of animators, producer, editor, designer, story boarder, composer and sound designer to produce the film.

When the film is finished it can be used in antenatal groups, embedded on charities websites and available for use in toolkits and apps, as well as shared via Facebook, Twitter and other social media to raise awareness of these issues. Embed codes and logo placing are available as rewards.

The finished film will promote discussion and provide support for men and women who may feel isolated or be looking for help during this period, as well as promoting understanding from other family members, friends and colleagues.

Perinatal Positivity will reach thousands of parents across the Uk and potentially around the world.
