The Proposal

Aim

To raise funds to pay the all the cast and crew that helped to make the short film.

Our story is thankfully, a simple one. We are a group of students in year 3 at Queen Margaret University taking on the task of producing a short film to submit as part of our assessment requirements on the Video Production module.

You'll see these types of projects all the time on social media. Students looking for an army of people to make up the cast and crew. Typically, the students cannot pay the cast and crew and advertise with the headline of "student film, no budget, travel and food only". There is no harm in that, obviously. Still, having been on the other end of that table, our producer was fairly adamant that if we expect professional standards of work and attitude, we will treat people the same way. And that means they will, if possible through your support, be paid industry rates for their work and time.

Who/What is this crowdfunder aimed at paying specifically?

• Sound Engineer
• Photography/Cinematography Consultant/Assistant
• Lighting Assistant
• 4 Principle Actors + Support Artists
• Drone Pilot
• Transport + Parking Costs
• Props Procurement
• Food / Sustenance

What if we don't raise enough?

We are staying positive and hoping that isn't going to happen.

What if we raise more than needed?

We aim to ensure everyone except us (the QMU students) is paid. But, if we raise more than we need, we will donate to the Mental Health Foundation. They are a partner charity of Zizzi's. We shot most of our principal film at Zizzi's in Edinburgh (Queensferry Street). We will also be making a donation to Health in Mind. This Edinburgh-based charity has a relationship with QMU and remembers two of the students from a marketing pitch assessment from year 2.

Why these charities?

Separate to the established relationships, due to the nature of the themes explored in the film; we were keen to partner with these charities as they help people all over the country with mental health issues (small and large). We are proud to have their moral support on this project.
