Beach of the Dead was Brighton's world-renowned annual Zombie Walk. The Brighton Zombie Walk will return in 2024 with a new dedicated team.
Beach of the Dead was Brighton's world-renowned annual Zombie Walk, starting in 2007 with just a handful of Gauls, Ghosts, and the Undead descending on Brighton Station staggering down to the sea. It grew year on year attracting 1000's of lost souls, until the event was culled due to costs and bureaucracy.
Well Zombies, Lurkers, Gauls, Runners, and the Undead it's time to resurrect The Zombie Walk for 2024, with a new team at the helm.
Event costs, especially since the cost of living crisis have increased considerably, with sponsors and advertisers reducing their spends.
For a medium size event BHCC require the following policies at the end in place to approve an event application, along with 10 Million Public Liability insurance.
With the added costs of security, first aid and event management, bringing back the undead will require significant organisation and professional services costs.
The initial funds raised will be used to fund the initial event application submission fee, along with preparation of the core policies required by BHCC. Anything left over will be used to fund on the day costs.
The event is been put on for the folks of Brighton & Hove and is not expected to make any profits. Should any surplus be made this will be used to fund future Zombie Walks.
The following polices are mentioned within the Council requirement for a medium event.
Event communications
Security and stewarding
Crowd management
Emergencies
Fire
First aid
Lost children and vulnerable adults
Transport (including parking)
Toilet and drinking water provision
Food safety
