Aim

Help FFH-5RS raise the funds needed to secure a permanent home and protect the future of the rescue.

Help us raise approximately £220,000 (€260,000) to give FFH-5RS a permanent home and a sustainable future

FFH-5RS has spent years rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming animals who needed somewhere safe to go. Now, we need your help to secure the future of the rescue itself.

FFH-5RS currently operates from a rented property. While this has allowed the rescue to grow and help hundreds of animals, renting cannot provide the long-term security that a rescue like FFH-5RS needs.

We have now reached a point where securing a permanent home is essential.

An incredible property has become available at exactly the right time, just as we have started seriously looking at the long-term future of FFH-5RS.

It is not the property FFH-5RS currently operates from, but it is almost ready for the rescue to move into and continue operating, with purpose-built kennel facilities already in place. The property costs €695,000.

Chelsea has met with the bank and discussed the purchase. The bank has advised that if approximately €260,000, currently around £220,000, can be raised towards the required deposit and purchase costs, they would be able to finance the remaining amount through a mortgage, subject to the usual lending process and requirements.

The current owners are planning to move in January 2027 and would ideally like the property sold by then. That gives us an enormous challenge. And not very much time.

But FFH-5RS has never been built by one person. It has been built by a community.

Every £2, £5, £10, £20, fundraiser, business donation, sponsored challenge and share can help bring us closer.

This is not simply about buying a property. It is about saving FFH-5RS and building something that can continue rescuing animals for many years to come.

THE SHORT VERSION

If you only read one part of this page, please read this.

FFH-5RS currently operates from rented premises and needs to secure a permanent home. An ideal property has become available for €695,000.

It already has refurbished kennel facilities, indoor heated sleeping areas, individual indoor and outdoor runs, isolation areas, large exercise space, accommodation on site and facilities that could help FFH-5RS generate its own income in the future.

Following a meeting with the bank, Chelsea has been advised that approximately €260,000 needs to be raised towards the deposit and associated purchase costs, with the remainder potentially financed through a mortgage.

For our mainly UK-based supporters, that is currently approximately £220,000. Our aim is to raise this by January 2027.

If this particular property becomes unavailable, or we cannot raise enough for the deposit required for it, the money raised will still go towards securing a permanent home for FFH-5RS. We are already exploring alternative properties and options requiring a lower deposit or if we cannot secure it in time for this perfect property.

But the end goal remains the same: FFH-5RS needs a permanent home.

Without securing a suitable permanent property, the worst-case outcome is that FFH-5RS would eventually have to close. That is what we are fighting to prevent.

WHY IS THE TARGET SHOWN IN POUNDS IF THE PROPERTY IS IN EUROS?

FFH-5RS is based in Spain and the property purchase will be completed in euros.

The amount we ultimately need to work towards is therefore approximately €260,000.

However, this Crowdfunder is aimed primarily at our UK community and donations through the campaign will be made in pounds, so we have shown the fundraising target in GBP to make it easier for supporters to understand exactly what their donation is contributing towards.

At the time of setting up the campaign, €260,000 is approximately £220,000.

Exchange rates can change, so the exact sterling equivalent may move slightly throughout the campaign.

For that reason, you may see us refer to both figures:

Crowdfunder target: approximately £220,000

Underlying funding requirement: approximately €260,000

Whatever the exchange rate does, the purpose of the campaign remains exactly the same, securing a permanent future for FFH-5RS.

WHO IS FFH-5RS?

1791285662_729705957_1597304975735182_8531068935016166495_n.jpgFFH-5RS was founded by Chelsea after she moved to Spain in 2019.

What started with helping animals who needed somewhere to turn gradually became something much bigger.

One rescue became another. One dog needing help became another dog needing help. People started contacting Chelsea about abandoned animals, unwanted animals, dogs needing rehabilitation and animals whose circumstances had suddenly changed.

Over time, FFH-5RS grew into the rescue it is today. In 2024, FFH-5RS became a registered association.

At the heart of everything are the five principles represented by the name:

Rescue
Rehabilitate
Re-home
Reunite
Retirement

To date, approximately 652 dogs and cats have been rehomed through FFH-5RS.

But adoption is only one part of what FFH-5RS does. Some animals arrive and are quickly ready for their new lives. Others arrive frightened, shut down, under-socialised, injured or simply confused about why everything they knew has suddenly disappeared. Some need weeks of rehabilitation. Some need months. Some need substantial veterinary care. Some need help learning how to live in a home. Some can be reunited with their families. Others, particularly elderly animals or those whose needs make adoption difficult, remain with FFH-5RS in retirement.

FFH-5RS exists because every one of those animals deserves someone to try.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN AN ANIMAL ARRIVES?

Taking an animal into rescue is much more than giving them a kennel and putting their photograph online.

When a new dog arrives at FFH-5RS, the process starts immediately.

They receive a veterinary check.

Their microchip details are transferred into the correct ownership, or a microchip is implanted if they do not already have one.

Their vaccination status is checked and vaccinations are given where needed.

A passport is arranged if they do not already have one.

Spaying or neutering is arranged where appropriate.

Then comes one of the most important parts.

Getting to know them.

FFH-5RS assesses each dog's personality, behaviour, confidence, energy levels and individual needs.

Do they enjoy other dogs?

Would they prefer to live alone?

Could they live with children?

Are they confident or nervous?

Do they need an experienced home?

Would they thrive somewhere busy or somewhere quiet?

What sort of family would actually suit them?

The goal is not simply to find a home.

It is to find the right home.

Their information is then added to the FFH-5RS website.

Adoption graphics and posters are created.

Their story is shared on social media.

Posters go into the FFH-5RS shop window.

Videos and photographs help potential adopters get to know them.

And while all of that is happening, the everyday work continues.

Feeding.

Cleaning.

Walking.

Training.

Confidence building.

Medication.

Veterinary care.

Enrichment.

Laundry.

And giving them the time they need.1791283366_487049018_1195915675874116_3239253379568716929_n.jpg

RESCUE DOESN'T STOP WHEN THE CAMERA IS OFF

Social media often shows the good moments.

The adoption photographs.

The dogs playing.

The wagging tails.

The happy updates from new homes.

Behind those moments is the reality of running FFH-5RS every single day.

That includes:

• Food and fresh water
• Veterinary appointments
• Emergency veterinary treatment
• Medication
• Vaccinations
• Passports and paperwork
• Microchipping
• Spaying and neutering
• Flea and worming treatments
• Bedding and blankets
• Cleaning supplies
• Laundry
• Exercise and enrichment
• Rehabilitation
• Confidence building
• Training and preparation for home life
• Adoption enquiries and assessments
• Photography and social media
• Supporting animals who need long-term care
• Transport arrangements for adopted animals
• Looking after retirement animals who may never leave FFH-5RS

And the work does not stop because it is a weekend, Christmas Day or Chelsea is tired.

The animals still need everything they needed the day before.

WHY FFH-5RS NEEDS A PERMANENT HOME

FFH-5RS currently operates from rented premises.

That has allowed FFH-5RS to help hundreds of animals.

But renting also means uncertainty.

A rescue needs to be able to plan years ahead.

It needs to know that kennels will still be there.

That the animals will still have somewhere safe to sleep.

That improvements made to a property are actually investments in the rescue's future.

That retirement animals who may need lifelong care will continue to have somewhere to call home.

FFH-5RS cannot build its long-term future around uncertainty forever.

We do not want to spend every year simply worrying about the next emergency.

We want to build something sustainable.

And we want FFH-5RS to still be here helping animals many years from now.

THE PROPERTY THAT COULD CHANGE EVERYTHING

The property currently available costs €695,000.

It has become available at an incredibly important point for FFH-5RS.

The current owners are planning to move in January 2027, which is why we are working towards raising as much of the required funding as possible before then.

What makes this property so exciting is that so much of what FFH-5RS needs is already there.

Refurbished kennel facilities

The property already has a kennel block in place.

The kennels have been refurbished and provide dogs with their own indoor and outdoor runs.

Even with the dogs currently in the care of FFH-5RS, there would still be additional kennel space available.

That gives us flexibility without needing to immediately increase the number of animals FFH-5RS takes in.

Some of that space could instead be adapted specifically for senior and retirement dogs.

Heated indoor sleeping areas

The dogs would have warm indoor areas for sleeping, alongside access to their outside runs.

That is particularly important during colder weather and for older dogs who need greater comfort.

Isolation areas

The site already includes areas that can be used to separate animals who become unwell.

Being able to properly isolate a sick animal protects both that animal and the rest of the rescue population.

Large outdoor exercise areas

The property provides significant outside space where dogs can exercise, play and receive enrichment away from their kennels.

Suitable for large breeds and family groups

The kennel facilities provide space suitable for larger dogs as well as dogs who may need to stay together.

That flexibility is extremely valuable in rescue.

Chelsea can live on site

The property includes a house.

This would mean Chelsea could live alongside FFH-5RS and be on site throughout the night.

That provides additional security and means dogs can be checked whenever necessary.

It would also allow selected rescue dogs to spend time inside a real home environment.

For dogs who may never have lived indoors before, this is invaluable.

They can learn about household noises, settling indoors, living around people, sleeping inside and everyday routines.

All of these experiences can make the transition into an adoptive home much easier.

MORE THAN A RESCUE CENTRE

One of the biggest reasons we believe this property could transform FFH-5RS is that it gives us opportunities to generate income as well as spend it.

Fundraising will always be important.

But FFH-5RS cannot build a genuinely sustainable future if every cost relies entirely on asking supporters for another donation.

The long-term vision is for parts of the site to help financially support the rescue.

Grooming

The property has an area previously used for dog grooming.

The grooming business would need to be rebuilt and developed, but the facilities create the opportunity to establish a grooming service whose income could contribute towards FFH-5RS.

Doggy daycare

Once FFH-5RS is established at the site, we would like to dedicate a small and carefully managed number of kennels to doggy daycare.

This could generate regular income while still keeping the rescue as the priority.

Overnight stays

A limited number of spaces could potentially be used for overnight stays, creating another income stream for FFH-5RS.

Dog training

The site provides the opportunity to develop an area for training classes.

This could include puppy training, basic obedience, recall, loose lead walking, confidence building and other training services.

Events

The additional space also opens the door to holding events on site.

Car boot sales.

Auctions.

Fundraising days.

Fiestas.

Community events.

Dog-related events.

And much more as FFH-5RS develops.

Instead of constantly asking:

"How are we going to pay the next bill?"

We want FFH-5RS to be able to ask:

"How can we make this rescue more sustainable?"

THE ANIMALS BEHIND THE NUMBER

£220,000 is a huge number.

€260,000 is a huge number.

Whichever currency you look at, it can be difficult to emotionally connect with a figure that large.

But this campaign is not really about a number.

It is about animals.

Animals like King, spending his retirement with FFH-5RS and deserving security, comfort and care for the rest of his life.

Animals like Oso, who needed patience, rehabilitation and time to understand that people could be trusted.

It is about puppies who may only stay with FFH-5RS briefly before finding families.

Adults who wait months for the right home.

Dogs who need rehabilitation before adoption can even be considered.

Senior animals who may remain part of FFH-5RS for the rest of their lives.

And the animals we haven't met yet.

We don't know their names.

We don't know when they will arrive.

But we know there will always be another animal who needs help.

The question is whether FFH-5RS will still be there when they do.

WHAT EXACTLY ARE WE TRYING TO RAISE?

The property price is:

€695,000

Following discussions with the bank, Chelsea has been advised that approximately:

€260,000

would need to be raised towards the required deposit and associated purchase costs, with the remainder potentially being financed through a mortgage, subject to the bank's lending process and requirements.

For this UK-based Crowdfunder, that is currently approximately:

£220,000

The amount raised will help cover areas including:

• The property deposit
• Purchase taxes
• Legal fees
• Professional fees
• Other costs associated with completing a property purchase

Because the purchase will ultimately take place in euros, the exact GBP equivalent may change as exchange rates fluctuate.

We will continue to be open with supporters about the amount required as the campaign progresses.

WHAT IF THIS PARTICULAR PROPERTY FALLS THROUGH?

We want everyone supporting this campaign to understand exactly what they are donating towards.

This property is currently our preferred option because it is so close to being ready for FFH-5RS to move into.

The kennel infrastructure already exists.

The property provides accommodation.

There is exercise space.

There are potential income-generating facilities.

It would allow FFH-5RS to continue operating with far less additional work than starting completely from scratch.

But there are no guarantees with any property purchase.

Another buyer could come forward.

Circumstances could change.

The sale could fall through.

Or we may not be able to raise enough for the deposit required for this particular property.

For that reason, FFH-5RS is continuing to explore other options at the same time.

Some of those options may require a lower deposit.

If this property cannot be secured, the money raised through the Save FFH-5RS campaign will still be used towards securing a permanent property and protecting the future of FFH-5RS.

The property may change.

The mission will not.

WHAT HAPPENS IF WE CANNOT SECURE A PERMANENT PROPERTY?

This is the part we wish we did not have to write.

But we promised to be honest.

The worst-case scenario is that if FFH-5RS cannot raise enough to secure this property or another suitable permanent property, FFH-5RS could ultimately have to close.

We do not say that to frighten people into donating.

We say it because this campaign exists for a reason.

Continuing indefinitely without permanent security is not sustainable.

There comes a point where a rescue has to know that the animals in its care will still have somewhere to be next year and the year after that.

We want to make sure FFH-5RS reaches that point.

£220,000 FEELS IMPOSSIBLE

We know.

When you see a target of more than £200,000, the immediate reaction can be:

"What difference will my £5 make?"

A huge one.

Because this campaign is not about one person giving £220,000.

It is about thousands of people doing something.

For example:

10,000 people giving £5 = £50,000

5,000 people giving £10 = £50,000

2,500 people giving £20 = £50,000

1,000 people giving £50 = £50,000

Small donations become enormous when enough people stand behind the same cause.

And donations are only one part of this campaign.

Someone might raise £100 through a cake sale.

Someone might organise a sponsored walk.

A school might hold a fundraising day.

A business might sponsor part of the campaign.

Someone might hold a fun day.

Someone might ask for donations instead of birthday presents.

Someone might simply share this page with the one person who can help us enormously.

Every part matters.

CAN'T DONATE? YOU CAN STILL HELP SAVE FFH-5RS

Please don't scroll away because you cannot afford to donate.

You can still make a difference.

You can:

• Send it directly to friends and family
• Organise your own fundraiser
• Run a sponsored challenge
• Ask your workplace to support FFH-5RS
• Approach local businesses
• Ask businesses about sponsorship
• Contact local newspapers or radio stations
• Share the campaign in community groups
• Hold a cake sale or coffee morning
• Organise a fun day
• Ask clubs, schools or organisations to get involved
• Follow and share FFH-5RS on social media

One share can reach hundreds of people.

And one of those people might be the person who changes everything.

TRANSPARENCY MATTERS

This is the largest fundraising campaign FFH-5RS has ever undertaken.

We understand that supporters will have questions.

We welcome them.

Money raised through the Save FFH-5RS campaign is being raised specifically to help secure a permanent home and protect the long-term future of FFH-5RS.

Our first choice is the property described on this page.

If that property cannot be purchased, funds raised will continue to be used towards securing another suitable permanent property for FFH-5RS.

FFH-5RS keeps records and receipts relating to rescue expenditure and we want supporters to feel comfortable asking questions about how the rescue operates and what fundraising is being used for.

This rescue has been built with the support of its community.

That community deserves transparency.

IMAGINE FFH-5RS FIVE YEARS FROM NOW

Imagine arriving at FFH-5RS several years from now.

The dogs have secure indoor and outdoor kennels.

Senior dogs have comfortable spaces adapted for retirement.

A frightened new arrival has somewhere quiet to decompress.

Dogs are running and playing in the exercise areas.

Another dog is spending time inside the house learning what family life feels like before adoption.

A grooming customer arrives, knowing that their appointment is helping generate income for the rescue.

Dogs arrive for daycare.

Training classes take place on site.

A fundraising event fills the grounds with supporters.

Income generated by those services helps cover food, veterinary treatment and everyday running costs.

Chelsea lives on site and can check the animals whenever needed.

Adopted dogs continue leaving for homes.

New animals arrive needing another chance.

And FFH-5RS can help them because years earlier, a community came together and decided the rescue was worth saving.

That is what we are asking you to help us build.

Not simply a property.

A future.

HELP US SAVE FFH-5RS

We have until approximately January 2027 to make an enormous amount of progress.

We cannot do it alone.

Please donate whatever you can.

£2.

£5.

£10.

£20.

£50.

Whatever is realistic for you.

If you cannot donate, share.

If you can fundraise, fundraise.

If you own a business, please consider supporting us.

If you know someone who could help, send them this page.

If you have a platform, tell our story.

FFH-5RS has already helped approximately 652 dogs and cats find homes.

There are hundreds more stories still waiting to be written.

We want to make sure FFH-5RS is here to write them.

You may not be able to save every animal.

But together, we can save the place that saves them.

Thank you for standing with FFH-5RS.

Thank you for believing in what FFH-5RS has built.

And thank you for helping us fight for its future.
