We need to raise funds to buy a portable, electrically operated hoist for use in our disabled toilet.
Earlier this year we were lucky enough to have Nationwide refurbish our disabled toilet facilities but now we need your help to purchase a hoist.
A hoist is used by members with physical disabilities to allow them to transfer from a wheelchair or mobility aid onto the toilet. It's electrically operated and portable so can be used by anyone. We do not currently have a hoist so members have to go home as there are no other disabled facilities nearby.
If we have a hoist it will mean that members can attend whenever they want to and stay as long as they want to. This gives them the freedom and independence to decide how they spend their time and allows them to join in with all the activities and opportunities The Open Door Centre offers.
