We are critically short of space and our 50 year old garages & rusting container areas are in urgent need of redevelopment.
The Nevill Sports Ground is home to Brighton & Hove Cricket Club and Hove Park Colts YFC as well as many other local community sports teams and schools. A small group of volunteers maintain the club and grounds and host sports 52 weeks a year.

Raising these funds is vitally important. Sport England will give us £7500 if we raise £7500. Therefore every £ 25 you donate is in reality doubled to £50.
We urgently need to create more secure dry, storage space for the expensive grounds equipment and assets that we have invested heavily in recently. We also need to be able to perform essential machine maintenance & repairs and save £000's by not sending machinery off-site for expensive repairs. The current space is too small and the roof leaks, door frames are rotten and the space is crammed with machinery, tools and materials.
We have a decaying rusty and unsightly container which we would like to remove.
The award winning grounds team work incredibly hard to ensure that both cricket and football pitches are in tip top condition ensuring that sport can be played 52 weeks of the year which will result in better pitches and a better player experience, not to mention the improved environment for local residents and dog walkers.
The space behind the garages is largely unprotected from the elements and passers by. The redevelopment will be considerate of the environment and its brick build will harmonize with existing buildings.

With your generous support we will be able to get the redevelopment program and building works underway. Our plan is to eventually put solar panels onto the roof and install a water harvesting system to keep our playing pitches in tip top condition and which we feel are essential environmental and cost saving projects.
The redevelopment is phased and your funds will be used to redevelop the area by preparing the grounds around the garages and lay the foundations ready for the main building to be constructed. The design will blend in nicely with its surroundings and has the full planning consent and approval of Brighton & Hove City Council
The work will take about three weeks to complete and we estimate this will cost £15000 but we have added contingency to take it to £20000.

The Nevill hosts over 170 cricket matches during the summer and nearly 350 football matches during the winter, with over 50 different teams enjoying the pitches and facilities. We are proud to host girls junior and senior cricket and football and are the home ground for Brighton and Hove District Schools Football teams. The Nevill is also used extensively by local schools for PE classes and sports events during term time.
So it's fair to say that the community value generated is quite literally off the scale. Our relationship with neighbours and dog walkers is excellent and they frequently compliment the sports ground as being the best they have ever seen it. Its hard not to love the place. Yes everyone loves the Nevill....even on windy days.
By having the garages redeveloped, the overall aesthetic of the facility will improve and the amount of noise reduced as motorized equipment will now be driven straight onto the fields avoiding the car park and avoidable damage.

The grounds team set high standards and the progress over the past five years has been really positive. However there is still a lot of work to do to get the pitches and Pavilion looking and performing even better than they already do, so having modern garage and maintenance facilities is a key link in that process and achieving our goals and Vision.
The grounds team have recently been recognized for their work with awards from the Sussex Cricket League and the Sussex FA. Daniel and Andy, the Grounds Team, are very very grateful for everyone's appreciation of their hard work.
