Garden of Contemplation

Aim

To create a Garden of Contemplation around the Didsbury War Memorial to celebrate the 100 years since it was first erected.

This crowd funder has now closed and Phase 1 of the project is beginning.  For information about the ongoing status of the project see the Didsbury Civic Society Website.

Didsbury community organisations and local councillors are raising funds for a new Garden of Contemplation in the surrounding grounds at the Cenotaph.

The garden will be an accessible, biodiverse oasis with attractive, sustainable planting. Beautifying the cenotaph in this way is a fitting tribute to those who gave their lives for peace.

The project target is £30,000. Manchester City Council has already committed £14,000 to accelerate the project, with a further £16,000 still needed through crowdfunding.

Your support is vital to the success of this project. In addition to individual donations, funding is expected to come from local businesses and traders, musical events, charity events, commercial opportunities and grant applications.

Local groups involved include Didsbury Civic Society, St James & Emmanuel church and Didsbury in Bloom.
