Aim
A well-deserved opportunity for displaced talent who, until now, have not had the platform to be seen or heard by wider audiences.
Abandoned Artists CIC is a talent agency with a twist, dedicated to support displaced and refugee artists to rebuild their creative journeys in Scotland. Our work focuses on creatives affected by war, forced displacement, and humanitarian crises
We decided to launch this crowdfunding campaighn with the hope that collectively the remaining needs can be addressed.
To cover public transport tickets, accomodation and small bursaries to allow participating artists two days of install and the opening night in Edinburgh are our curent challenges to tackle. We also have some installation and the equipment hire costs.
'a match is silent but it speaks' is a contemporary showcase held at Custom House, Leith, Edinburgh, 4-7 September 2025, 10-17:00 . It brings together the voices and new artworks of 25 Ukrainian artists, each of whom has endured a year shaped by displacement and deep transformation. Working across disciplines, from painting and sculpture to performance and digital media, the artists reflect not only on what they have left behind, but on how they have continued to create, adapt, and speak through their practice.
This exhibition is a pivotal moment for our cohort of displaced Ukrainian artists to transform their traumatic experiences into the future, breaking down barriers and building meaningful connections. It is also our collective attempt to navigate the integration of displaced artists into the local arts scene as active, valued members of society. This showcase celebrates not just survival, but an artistic evolution. More than an exhibition, it’s a call to reflect on how art helps us belong, integrate, and begin again together. It marks a moment of visibility for artists who, until now, have not had the platform to be seen or heard by wider audiences.
