This project will provide regular Lullaby Hour live music sessions for very ill babies and children at the Children's Heart Unit, Freeman Hospital, Newcastle upon Tyne. Children and babies come from all over the North of England for treatment at the Heart Unit. Many of the children are in pain and experience a lot of negative emotions, many struggle to sleep in the clinical environment of a hospital, some of the children and babies pass away.
Our Lullaby Hour can help the babies and children to settle and offer them comfort and joy, through gentle, beautiful lullaby songs that can be personalised for each child. One little girl's heart rate lowered during the singing. Lullaby Hour can also provide anxious parents with comfort and sometimes deeply cherished memories. Some parents never get to take their child home: Lullaby Hour offers them beautiful moments with their children beyond the treatments and clinical activity of a hospital ward.
One tearful mum said " Please keep singing, it's so beautiful."
Joanne, the activities coordinator on the Unit said "Please keep this project going - it brings so much comfort and joy to the children and their parents."
Can you help us raise the funds to continue this wonderful project?
We need your help to raise £ 6,720 which will enable us to provide fortnightly Lullaby Hour sessions at the Children's Heart Unit.
We are eligible for a 50% match from the Community Foundation Tyne & Wear, but in order to acquire this funding we must secure £3,360 from our supporters and the public.
We urgently need your help to keep this amazing project going! Can you help us reach our target?
If we reach our stretch target of £10,000 we will also be able to produce an online Lullaby Hour songbook with audio for parents and nurses to freely access.
