Girls United FA is a non-profit organisation that was born from a desire to give girls the opportunity to engage in sport. We combined a belief in the power of sport with a vision of a world where globalisation benefits communities and individuals, not corporations, and created a volunteer-led organisation that establishes football academies for girls in areas where they don't exist.
Our mission is to establish these academies and recruit volunteers to coach, creating a genuine and profound cultural exchange, based on values of equality and inclusion.
Our vision is to promote gender equality, physical health and boost the economy in the local communities. As well as encourage volunteers and players to explore, to be inspired and to be empowered.
This fundraiser is specifically dedicated to our project in Bacalar, Quintana Roo in the southeast of Mexico. A beautiful town that as a local described it: "is a precious rock, waiting to be cut and polished". We are looking to give the girls of Bacalar the opportunity to be part of a team and become confident, daring leaders through engaging in sport.
These funds are for the equipment of the academy being set-up for June-October 2017 with approximately 150 girls.
Football Kit: £2,000 (shorts, shirts, socks)
Training Equipment: £300 (cones, bibs, goals)
Water Supply and healthy snacks: £700
*plus crowdfunding fees
Any additional funds raised will go towards football boots for the girls!
