Caldy CC – Crowdfunding 2021

Caldy Cricket Club is a community club based in West Wirral, playing fixtures in the picturesque setting of Paton Field, boarding Thurstaston Common and the beautifully quiet cricket pitch of Calday Grammar School, who we have strong links with.

We are part of the wider Caldy Sports Club which includes Caldy Rugby and Oxton Hockey Clubs together with hosting a community choir.

Our purpose is to offer the best facilities possible for the local community to play sport.

THE PROBLEMS WE FACE!

COVID

The global COVID-19 pandemic has created a very uncertain landscape for sports clubs in Britain, and Caldy CC is no different.

2021 is our centenary year , 2020 affected our plans for this special year.

2020 massive reduction of income

  • Turnover down 40%
  • Main sponsor couldn't support the club
  • We couldn't collect full subs
  • No functions for fundraising
  • A pipe under the outfield which we first had problems with in 2018 burst and needed replacing

COVID still hitting us in 2021

Additionally, fundraising events have been limited during 2021.

WHAT WE WANT TO ACHIEVE

The committee’s plans had included;

  • Replacement kit bags and training kit for all junior teams
  • Replacement kit bags and training kit for all senior team
  • Updated scoring systems for all sides
  • Provision of coaching services for juniors, girls cricket & disability cricket -
  • Replacement/repair of square mowers
  • Replacement/repair of roller
  • Replace broken mobile net -
  • Provision and replacement of seating around the ground and outside the clubhouse
  • Protective fencing to prevent ball loss and game delay and increase safety -
  • Much needed improvement work to the playing area including the main square in respect of flattening it out and improving the overall service to allow for increased usage -

We wanted all that done and ready by April 2021 having raised the funds in 2020, but we could not achieve it.

THE HELP WE NEED FROM YOU

Put simply, we need your donations to help us recover from COVID, get the Club back to where it was and then fulfil the future protecting plans for investment we missed out on in 2020.

There are different donations you can make, have a look at those on offers;

  • £100 DONATIONS - for a commemorative cap
  • £25 DONATIONS - to get discount card to for over 100 + local shops and businesses on Wirral
  • Smaller donations with rewards are also available - just read through what we have to offer

£100 DONATIONS

Given it is our centenary year we thought it sensible to link the fundraising to this anniversary.

We are therefore selling off each of the 100 years from 1921 to 2021 for £100 each.

As a THANK YOU from Caldy Cricket Club, people purchasing a year will get;

Commemorative Cap

A commemorative cap, with the clubs specially designed 100 year anniversary badge on it, together with the year they have purchased stitched into the peak.

The badge, commissioned by the club, has been designed by member and former old boy of Calday School Pete Hoppins.

Pete has recently retired as Head of Design Globally for Nike football and has headed up every Nike football kit design, internationally and club level since 2016.

These caps are therefore limited in number and hold a great back story in respect of the logo design on them.

Additionally those donating the £100 will also get;

  • Entry to Prize Draw - items that could be won inc sporting event tickets, restaurant & bar vouchers, concert ticket etc
  • Independent Wirral - local business benefits card

Details of our partnership with Independent Wirral are below.

  • Centurion’s plaque - we are looking to list the names of the people who contributed to the recovery and future of the club in 2021 to be at the ground.

How to make the £100 donation

Watch this video or read below

There is a simple 4 step process:

1. Go to the Club website, www.caldy.play-cricket.com and click on fundraising tab

2. Check which years are available and choose the year you want, together with a couple of reserve years.

3. Go to the fundraising page (www.crowdfunder.co.uk/caldy-cc-2021  there is a link from our website) and make your donation of £100

4. Email your confirmation of donation email to [email protected] together with your chosen year and reserve years (within 24 hours of the donation).

We will allocate years on a first come first served basis in respect of the time and date of the donation. If your preferred year has already been allocated we will move onto your reserve years.

Whilst we appreciate people will have specific years they would prefer, we would ask that everyone bears in mind that the aim here is to raise all the funding for the club. Therefore, please do choose some reserve years, just in case, this then allows us to complete the allocation of every year, maximising the funding available to the club.

£25 Donations

Each person making these donations will receive an Independent Wirral local business benefits card.
