To buy and convert a bus to enable me an autistic man to deliver autism talks, training, workshops and participate at conferences nationally
Hello I am Rolo and I am Autistic- I want to buy and convert a bus/transit to enable me to deliver Autism talks, training, workshops and attend conferences nationally
This is the first step of a new project called Autism Rolo (Nothing about Autism without Autism)
To date there are almost no post diagnostic services for adults diagnosed with ASC autism spectrum condition; I know this because I am one of them. I am working tirelessly to rectify this whilst tackling the stigma and discrimination in the way that Autism is percieved and dealt with.
My passion and mission is to get on the road and start a conversation from an autistic perspective highlighting the huge talent pool that is going to waste due to the fear and misunderstanding of our neurodiversity. Secondly I wish to bridge the divide beteween us all and to celebrate differences, combining all our talents (both autistic and non autistic)will serve to create a better neurodiverse society built on tolerance, understanding, knowledge and cooperation.
I need a converted van because as an autistic I am severely affected by sensory stimulus and after giving my time to people need a safe environment to regroup-I can not use hotels. A van would serve as a mini office and enable me to travel further afield, sleep overnight and get to places and people that live in out of the way places.Without it I can not reach those who need me.However with your help I can make this happen.
Getting out there is the best way forward
I will be able to achieve this by
The cost to convert is higher but I have aimed for a conservative target . Due to spinal disability I can only drive an automatic which are hard to find and the conversion would have to be disabled friendly which would cost a little more
Money pays towards purchase of transit van conversion costs
MOT, tax, insurance, vehicle recovery and fuel for 1 year
All help advice and support in any form would be hugely appreciated-please tell me what kind of rewards you would like on my Facebook page AutismRolo

‘Rolo has attended some of the Autism Awareness training days assisting in the delivery of in-house training to our staff. They have said that the insight he gives as a person with autism was invaluable to them, and gave them a better understanding of the people they are caring for'
