New stretch target
We are delighted to have hit our initial target of £300,000 - thanks to everyone for your support so far.
Please help us press on to £350,000 to give us headroom above the bare minimum £300,000. This will help repay creditors and build capital towards the final share buyout. The more funds we can generate now, the more robust the whole Club and Society will be - and the clearer the path to full conversion to a community benefit society.
The Big Bath City Bid is back and we just need £300,000 to get over the line!
Last summer, the fans, businesses and people who love Bath and Bath City FC got together and pledged a staggering £300,000 to convert Bath City FC into a revitalised community-owned club. We weren't able to conclude the deal then, but we've been working hard ever since to make the dream a reality.
Now, the Bid is back
We have now agreed with the majority shareholders in the club that of we can now confirm enough of your pledges and gain enough new commitments to reach £300,000 of investment, then together we will be able to claim a majority stake for the Community in the Club from day one, bring new skills to a more democratic board and, with the help of a new board member for Community & Social Impact, embark upon a new phase of regeneration, engagement and cooperation. This is not extra money, we just need to bring in as much as possible of what was committed last year, plus vital new share purchases to reach the £300,000 total figure.
PLUS - reaching the £300,000 target will release a matched amount of £300,000 interest-free loans to help give the club security and invest in the playing team while we implement our new business plan and work on the partial redevelopment of Twerton Park.
We need your help - NOW!
Buy Community Shares: for a minimum purchase of £250, you can buy community shares on this site issued by the Bath City Supporters Society, a democratic fans' cooperative. Enjoy benefits from an exclusive member's badge and share certificate to a place on our Shareholder Roll of Honour, a photo with the team, a named seat in the stand or three years' membership of the Premier Lounge. Community shares give you a stake in the running of the club, enable you to elect directors or even stand for the Board yourself, and are repayable, subject to the future financial performance of the Society and the Club.
Confirm Your Pledge: if you pledged to buy shares last year, then you just need to confirm to us you want to go ahead with your share purchase by emailing us at email@example.com. We do need your confirmation to go ahead with your share purchase.
Donate: if for any reason you can't buy shares right now, please donate what you can afford and enjoy a witty thank-you from club mascot Bladud the Pig, award-winning film director and top City fan Ken Loach or all-time-appearances club legend, Jim Rollo.
Please read our new community share offer prospectus at www.bigbathcitybid.org.uk and get behind the Bid.
We hope you will join us in transforming and securing the club via community ownership and giving a great platform for another 125 years of Bath City FC.
What are Community Shares?
Community shares are a type of investment that allows people to invest in positive social outcomes while still being able to expect a modest financial return. They can be issued by a co-operative or community benefit society. They are repayable by the society that issues them, but only if and when the society judges that it is financially strong enough to do so. When a society makes a community share offer like this one, it must show potential investors how it plans to create enough revenue and profit to eventually repay the community shares. Please see our prospectus to learn more about the plans for repayment and the risks attached. Please also note that you will automoatically become a member of the Bath City Supporters Society by purchasing community shares - all members pay a £5 annual subscription, although this will not come due until 2017.
