Aim

To raise enough money for England's high jumper Matt Watson to train full time, in order to compete at this years Commonwealth Games.

I am a 23 year old international High Jumper and have only been in the sport for 4 years. Born in Southampton, I first entered the sport when I was at Sixth Form College, at the age of 18 and immediately won a UK Championship medal. The next couple of years I rapidly progressed, winning medals at all national championships and then more recently achieving international experience twice in the past year. Due to my success in 2013 I managed to reach the top 10 in England and am now established in the UK all-time highest jumps.

Despite my early advance, progression in high jump, within international level for the past few years, has slowed. I currently have many commitments including a new job and have recently graduated after a long final year at University. Working long hours puts real constraints on my training and therefore I am unable to commit fully to my athletics, resulting in a struggle in my performance levels.

This is why I am looking for support and sponsorship! I need to dedicate my whole time to training so I can take that next step onto a higher level of performance.

It’s a vicious cycle for potential athletes:

No sponsorshiplLack of traininglLack of exposure at the highest levellNo sponsorship

If I reach my target within the next 6 weeks, this will raise me enough money to train full time and work towards qualification for the Commonwealth Games!

The money pledged towards my project will be used for my day to day finances, allowing me to give up my day job and commit fully to my goal. Also, traveling to competitions can be expensive and your money will help me to compete at athletic events across the World.

Of course, for every pledge there’s a variety of rewards. With this, I’ve looked to be as helpful as possible, giving back to your generosity as much as I can.
