New stretch target

If we’re at this point, then wow!! Thank you so much.

With the extra funding we will be able to expand into cosmetics and personal care.

What are you supporting?

We are opening Leicester’s first plastic and packaging free store. Opening this summer in the Leicester's City centre and we need your help to make it the best ever and super snazzy!

At Nada we will offer a convenient and friendly store and encourage you to bring your own containers,  glass jars and bags to refill directly from a bulk supply of various dry goods, liquids and household products. Buying in this way, not only helps reduce single use plastics being used  but also helps stop food waste and saves you money. Everyone can get on board with that, right?! By us buying in bulk we can pass the savings onto you! Only need 75g of that coconut flour for a recipe your trailing? That's fine! Trying to eat better and don't know what cereal or grains you prefer? That's fine too. You buy in small amounts and cut the waste.

As well as being able to buy all you would need to help you on your way to living without plastic, with a range of bags, glass containers, toothbrushes, straws and reusable cups and bottles and even more to help reduce single use plastic in your everyday life. Nada will offer all the staples you will need for your kitchen, bathroom and everyday life.

With your suggestions and pledges we will be able to grow our product range and offer an even more diverse range of products.

Why open the store?

Upon looking for ways to become more plastic free and eliminate single use plastics from our lives. I started to research this and one popular suggestion from many Europeans and Americans was 'bulk bins'. Buying in this way eliminates the use of plastics as you bring your own container and also saves on food waste as you only have to purchase what you want to use and not be left with a bag of produce you may never use again languishing in the back of your cupboard. This idea sounded great but access to this way of shopping near me was non existent. So, I decided to open my own!

Being massively inspired by Zero Waste Food Shops  around the country such as Eat Food Love. Where it all started in Totnes Devon. http://thezerowasteshop.co.uk/ These guys have it nailed.

But honestly, we all saw the BBC documentary Blue planet and were all inspired to make a change. I have long been aware of the harm that we have been doing to our planet and have always strived to reuse and recycle where I can. But now it’s time to do something and start to make tiny changes to earth.

The amount of single use and non-recyclable packing in supermarkets is shocking and although major companies have signed a 7 year pledge to reduce this. We need to act now and move away from such packaging, hell, let’s just get rid of it all!

What are we using the money for?

Nada is due to open this summer, we have the necessary start up funds to open but to make the store more user friendly and have a larger more diverse range of products, we need your support.

Gravity dispenser's are a great hygienic way of storing loose products such as grains, cereals, beans, rice, nuts, pastas and sweets. They are great for self serving and will make the store more attractive and interactive for the customer. They are pretty expensive though. So, your pledges with help to buy these additional units.

We think that we have a great selection of products to share with you, ranging from the food side of cereals, beans, grains, nuts, seeds, fruit and snacks to cleaning products such as laundry detergent to shampoo and conditioner. But there's more!! There's always room for more and with your pledges we can expand our product range and offer you, well more!

A lot of our time and money has already gone into NADA but we also need to prepare for on-going costs associated with the running the store. There's always something you forget!

So, you can count on us that the all money raised will go into providing a helpful, hygienic, minimal waste store which we hope you will enjoy shopping in.

Have a look at the rewards we are offering and hopefully you will be tempted to pledge and be a part of this exciting new venture!

Many thanks, Lauren and family
