We need your help to take Yours Sincerely to the Edinburgh Fringe!

by Will Jackson in Birmingham, England, United Kingdom

We are raising funds to take a new play Yours Sincerely to Edinburgh this year. The Edinburgh Fringe is ridiculously expensive. A standard run of any theatre show costs thousands of pounds. It is, however, the worlds biggest arts festival and is a fantastic platform to showcase new work and emerging artists.

We already have funds in place but we desperately need your help to pay for all of the extra costs associated with a full run at the festival. ANY help, even if it is just sharing this crowdfunder, is greatly appreciated.

If you feel more comfortable contributing directly to the project not via this platform that's great too! Just drop us a line at:

QuickDuckTheatre@gmail.com

And we can sort that out!

Synopsis: It’s 2017. Average graduate debt is at £50,000, Kylie Minogue is making a comeback, and Will Jackson has accidentally stolen 300 second class stamps from the Post Office. But he's making them count. He's going to write letters. From reconnecting with old friends and ex-boyfriends to run-ins with the John Lewis marketing department, stamp collecting has never been this sexy.

Told through a mixture of storytelling and lipsync cabaret, and based off real life correspondences, Yours Sincerely is a queer comedy about the complications of modern-day communication that brilliantly explores the joys and pitfalls of the lost art of letter writing.

Yours Sincerely was originally produced and developed by the Birmingham Repertory Theatre as part of their Foundry Artist Festival, which was generously supported by the Leverhulme Trust and Esmée Fairbairn Foundation. It went onto be performed at VAULTS Festival where it was one of Lyn Gardner’s ‘Show’s to Watch’.

WILL JACKSON - Writer & Performer - @Jackson5Minus4 - is a Birmingham based Theatre Maker and Comedian. He is the Founder of Quick Duck Theatre, a Birmingham REP Foundry Artist and was featured on BBC3 as his drag alter ego National Treasure Samantha de Pompidou. As a director and facilitator, he has worked with the Birmingham REP, English Touring Opera and recently for the Helen Bamber Foundation. Previous praise for his work includes:

★★★★★ The Birmingham Post - ★★★★★ Impact Nottingham

★★★★★ Burn FM - ★★★★ Voice Magazine - ★★★★ EdFringeReview

QUICK DUCK THEATRE are an award-winning graduate theatre company based in Birmingham. They make interactive shows with a fun and comic twist to create unforgettable live experiences. Their work is ridiculous, openly queer, has a lot of heart and always has a killer soundtrack.

The company is only a year old but have already performed work at the Leicester Curve, Derby Theatre, The Wolverhampton Arena and VAULTS Festival. They're also part of New Diorama Theatre's 2019/20 cohort of Emerging Theatre Companies.

Yours Sincerely is Quick Duck Theatre's second show following Magic Hour: The Murder Mystery Disco! which won the Judge's awards for Singularity of Vision and Best Ensemble at the National Student Drama Festival.

“Dazzling comic commitment... magnificent... deliciously detailed.”

The Sunday Times on Magic Hour: The Murder Mystery Disco!
