Your Support Keeps Us Going
It's not all about the money! Your support in your comments, and sharing what we do, and telling other people what we do, is hugely important. In every way your support keeps us going. We want to be here for our community for a long time and so we are thinking how we can plan for the future as well as dealing with the here and now.
We've opened our cafe as a takeaway service and have worked really hard to make sure everyone will be safe whether they are ordering coffee or making it. It's a very small step on the way to being fully operation again, so the support of our supporters and would be visitors is really appreciated.
With the car park closed and people walking around the outside of the building, we realise what a large outside space we have. We can't wait until people are welcome to take a seat and enjoy lunch in the sunshine, but we also want to make long term improvements to enable us to do more. A covered area of the courtyard would allow for outdoor events such as films, workshops and evening socials. we could encourage more cyclists with a shelter over the bike racks and improve our food miles with some planters for veg and herb growing.
We're always looking for ways to do better and in normal times, we were fast outgrowing the building with lots of activities and events. Making more use of our garden area seems a great way to improve our facilities for everyone.
What is HEART?
HEART – Headingley Enterprise and Arts Centre – is a community venture set up by the Headingley Development Trust in 2011. It occupies the former Primary School in the heart of Headingley.
What is our vision?
HEART’s vision is to create a vibrant and welcoming space for a wide range of people to meet, mix, work and play.
In the current situation we are trying to keep our community involved by providing social media content and hosting online events such as yoga, music and quizzes. We've started to welcome both familiar and new faces at our take away counter.
Why do we need your help?
We are a social enterprise, not for profit and we get no external funding. Whilst we have the takeaway other parts of HEART remain closed so we are looking for ways of generating income both now and into the future. In the short term we need to continue to pay our bills, retain our staff, and ensure we have our building properly equipped and maintained, but we also want to make any visit to HEART the most enjoyable and safest it can be which is why we are asking again for your help.
How can you help?
If you can continue to support us through this period we'd be so grateful. It's not just about money - sharing what we do and talking to others about HEART is a great help too. But, if you are able to donate, whether it's £1 or £100, it all makes a difference to HEART and, as always, we promise to value every donation and ensure we use it to help HEART survive and thrive.
