Help us make Young Greens Convention 2019 accessible to everyone, irrespective of their financial background!

by Matthew James Hull in London, England, United Kingdom

On 24-25 August in Norwich we’re bringing together Young Greens from across England and Wales for the biggest event of the year - our annual Convention 2019!

*We want to make sure every Young Green can afford to attend, and no-one is priced out of politics. Please donate to our Access Fund!*

We bring together speakers from across the Green Party and wider movements for social and climate justice for talks, workshops, discussions and debates on the biggest issues in politics right now. This year, we’ve got an inspiring line-up of speakers - including co-leader Sian Berry and Magid Magid MEP!

Convention is also where we discuss policy, determine the Young Greens' direction for the next year, and elect our Executive Committee. It's the place to be for Young Green activists!

This is a hugely exciting time for the Green Party. We doubled our number of local councillors and elected seven fantastic MEPs; our membership has been growing massively ever since. We're capitalising on that energy and tooling up a new generation of young campaigners for the fight for social and climate justice. Young people are now at the front of our movement, from the school strikers to Greta Thunberg. They are not just the future, they are the present too.

So why am I raising money?

The Young Greens are determined that financial background should never be a barrier to political participation. Our Convention - the marquee event of our calendar - should be no different. That's why we commit to cover the costs of travel, accommodation, and food during Convention for anyone who would not otherwise be able to attend for financial reasons.

We're immensely proud of this. But it costs money, and we don't have major donors or corporate sponsors. We have you, and we need your help!

Please donate here and send a Young Green activist to their first Convention, enthuse them, help them become the effective campaigner that our world desperately needs. It means so much to us, to them, and to the whole movement.
