Young Adults in Siem Reap
Not quite
Unfortunately this project was not successful.

To help young adults in Siem Reap, Cambodia. Many young adults missed out on education due to war, conflict and poverty. Agna is one many.

Agna is one of many young adults in Siem Reap that due to the after effects of war and little education find themselves in a modern world without the skills to join it and living a life of poverty. He drives a tuk tuk but this is seasonal and his lack of education has prevented him from exploring better opportunities.

We met him three years ago and since have seen a shy young man develop and now has more confidence than before.  He has shown an ability to learn to speak English and eager to learn.

Living in the shadow of Angkor Wat life is hard for many and those with no education have an even harder time. In April we found a school that teaches English to young adults with no formal education and happily paid for him to have two terms of education.  His tuk tuk is broken and without funds he cannot get to school. He has missed out on ten days so far and his frustration is telling. A vicious cycle starts and would really like to change it for him and others like him.

We all take education for granted but for Agna and others like him life is a daily challenge. To help him would mean so much as he could concentrate on his studies and not worry about getting to school which is five miles away in Siem Reap. With no money he cannot  fix his bike and work.

There are many others who experience the same and we want to start with one person and if possible assist others going forward.
