Funds are running low in the Exeter branch of Extinction Rebellion. We still have just over £1,200 but over the last 18 months we have spent around £10,000. If you want to know where the money went the financial report (up to March 31st) is available in the Exeter area of The Cloud, under Organisation/Finance
We have run two Crowdfunder campaigns and one Crowd-Justice campaign. The 1st Crowdfunder raised £1,760 - I do not have the number of donors, but the 2nd Crowdfunder raised £3,100 from 93 donors, giving an average of around £33 per person. The Crowd-Justice campaign raised £2,090 from 54 donors - an average of £38 per person.
The bi-monthly newsletter goes out to a mailing list of over 1,100 subscribers. If a significant proportion of the mailing list could be persuaded to donate £5 or even £10 each, we would be well set up for the year ahead.
The past year has seen many significant actions. These have necessarily incurred expenses, in materials and travel related costs. We have also hired meeting rooms and done a lot of important training and outreach. Many people are putting in significant personal effort and incurring substantial expenses in undertaking this valuable work. A significant number of these people can only do this if our group is able to support them financially, by reimbursing expenses.
If the group is to continue to be an effective force for change in Devon and further afield, we must be able to assure people that all reasonable costs and expenses will be met. I believe it is incumbent upon all of us to contribute where we can and not rely on the same few people every time. If your personal circumstances or other commitments mean your physical presence is limited, you can make your presence felt in the bank balance instead. We understand that during the present pandemic many people have seen their incomes reduced so please donate only if you are able to do so.
