We want to raise funds towards new security measures at Wychurst, Regia Anglorum's Anglo-Saxon village, which was recently vandalised.

by Lauren Worrall in Herne Bay, Kent, United Kingdom

New stretch target

The cost of the new security measures at Wychurst is estimated to be £20,000 so by money made over the target will go straight towards reaching that number.

Wychurst is a replica Anglo Saxon village built by members of Regia Anglorum and is used for re-enactment events and open several times of the year to members of the public to help educate them about Early Medieval history.

Recently it has been broken into and vandalised. The damage includes broken shutters, a hole smashed through an outside wall which has damaged the painted wall inside, axe damage to the frame of the cook house, drug use and graffiti in the site caravan, and theft of the axes from inside the hall, amongst other things.

Covid has heavily affected our income as a society, so we are having to resort to crowdfunding to assist our efforts to build a large fence around the site to keep these intruders out. It is estimated that the security measures will cost £20,000.

A number of very generous and talented craftspeople have donated prizes for a great Christmas prize draw!
