Got Game - Taste Sensation

To raise £1,500, which will result in match funding from Big Green Egg and take us to our total of £3,000. This will provide us with 3 new Large Big Green Egg BBQs, a new fridge-freezer and an XL Igloo chiller box.

We did it!

On 18th Nov 2013 we successfully raised £3,950 of £3,000 target with 41 supporters in 28 days

The Big Green Egg will award Tom two Big Green Eggs to the value of £1,500 if he reaches his crowdfunding target.

Thanks to our philanthropic 'pledgends', we surpassed our target after a fortnight!

So we have revised our target figure believing that £4k is now achievable.

Hitting this mark would provide us with the essential paraperhanalia that supports the Big Green Eggs, that being the 'nests' which the eggs sit in - to bring them up to cooking height and for mobility purposes - as well as stone bases for making pizzas and charcoal and wood chippings for smoking.

So please pledge/share the link, we're only £250 off!

Who are we?

Hello, I'm Tom Forster, and I founded Got Game in 2012 to bring wild Cornish game, cooked using the outstanding Big Green Egg BBQs, to the festival and street food circuits. After attending loads of festivals and varied travel experiences in Indo China and Europe, I acquired a fond attachment to all manner of al fresco food. It tends to be good quality yet very affordable, unstuffy, and synonymous with fun and good times. What's not to love?

So, I'm over the moon that street food is now sweeping London and parts of the UK. As a self-taught creative/foodie/cook, whatever you want to call it, it gives me a versatile platform to launch a business such as Got Game. As I grew up in Cornwall I've been surrounded by game and quality local produce, including wild foods such as mushrooms, sloes and all manner of berries. So, resourcefulness is the name of the game here; drawing on my local environs, connecting with independent suppliers and artisans and supporting the local economy - including farmers, shoots and game dealers - we can form a profitable enterprise with a strong community benefit and minimal environmental impact.

What do we want to achieve?

With one cooking set up in place - part gas, part charcoal - we are now looking to consolidate and double-up in order to operate in London as well as Cornwall and the South West, and spread the good name of Got Game.

So we are looking to raise £1,500 through this appeal, which will then warrant match funding from the generous and supportive manufacturers at Big Green Egg, who will provide us with the additional two large Eggs up to the value of another £1,500. This will enable us to run a second set-up, meaning we can take on double bookings and realise our growth potential.

Why we need the funding?

I have put all my personal savings in to this business, raised some money through European funding and also wasted my time appealing to the banks for business loans. Although we are building a strong brand and a good reputation, start up constraints i.e. cash flow are limiting our progress and, in order to make the most of the varied opportunities, we need an injection of cash to make some specific capital purchases.

What will the money be used for?

As I mentioned above, our current cooking set up is part gas and part charcoal, meaning we use one gas BBQ and one charcoal BBQ - the single large Big Green Egg we own. This produces a far better end product so we are looking to specialise and use solely Big Green Eggs for our operation.

So the £1,500 would enable us to purchase the second large Egg to replace the gas BBQ, as well as an extra freezer, fridge, and Igloo box. We need these latter items for storage and transport of the extra meat required to meet the demands of double bookings, as provided by the match funded 2 large Eggs.

Hopefully there is a big enough range of appealing rewards to choose from, so if you like what's on offer and do decide to pledge, terrific! Hopefully mutual satisfaction will be derived making this whole experience enjoyable, worthwhile and fruitful! Thank you!
