Write Me aims to support young people facing mental health challenges. We have a unique approach, using lyric writing as a way in to understanding and positively re-writing young people's image of, and belief in, themselves.
Combining narrative therapy techniques and creativity, our project aims to enable young people to produce, and then perform, lyrical pieces with a mental wellbeing focus to the people who matter to them, and those with influence over mental health provision. This offers both the chance to re-write negative self image, and to influence those with the power to make lasting change in mental health services. We will also produce short YouTube clips of the project, should the participants be comfortable to do so.
Mental health care is hugely underfunded, and there is currently on average a 5 month waiting period for Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services in Devon. Our project will support young people aged 13-18. It will be facilitated by Treefish Training, a local organisation with a strong community ethos, in partnership with Recovery Devon, a community interest company promoting the use of Recovery within health services. We believe that individuals with mental health challenges can, and do, build meaningful lives.
Your donations will help us to get the project off the ground and buy equipment which will ensure that the project is as rewarding and meaningful as possible for the young people who take part.
