"Would Like To Meet" (WLTM) is a brand new play written by Christine Kempell and Hilary Handel, about the trials and tribulations of dating in the digital world, with a collection of hilarious true stories, embarrassing speed dating scenarios and shocking statistics.
Ally is looking for love online before she gets too old for Tinder. Her best friend, Liz, is bored with her OCD husband and is desperate for an illicit session of naked Jenga. David is addicted to Grindr and has terrible taste in men, while Keith thinks he's Tom Cruise and Janet seeks solace in a drawer full of Mars Bars.
After a successful rehearsed reading showcase, we have been offered the opportunity to stage our play at The Rialto Theatre, Brighton over the Valentine's weekend. We then hope to take the show to The Brighton Fringe Festival and then onto The Edinburgh Festival in August. All this is dependent on the funds that we raise. We need to be able to pay for the venue hire, pay the actors, pay for publicity and for a director.
Hilary and Christine met on a West End production of "An Evening With Gary Lineker", far too many years ago to mention here. This is our first foray into collaborating on a project together and we are very proud of the script. WLTM will take you on an emotional journey that is equally funny, poignant and downright embarrassing.
Audiences will be able to relate to the true recounts of dating disasters, lost loves and success stories. We guarantee WLTM will make you LOL!!
