We are GB representative divers who train at the Plymouth Life Centre. Diving takes up a large part of our lives as we put all our hard work and determination into the sport, training twice a day Monday to Friday and once on Saturday. After all our hard work and grit throughout training; we competed in the British National Cup in January, successfully reaching the qualifying standards to compete at the World University Games in Napoli this summer. This is such an amazing opportunity and is said to be on par with the Olympic Games experience with 13 different sports and over 2000 athletes involved.
However, we regret to say we are struggling to fund training fees, physiotherapy and all of our competitions this year. We are training at a very high level and in doing so, we are funding a lot of different equipment such as protein recovery, training clothes, swimming costumes, and wrist guards. Along with this, we are also funding our high monthly training fees. This year, we will be attending the British Senior National Championships in June, a Grand Prix event in Bolzano and also the World University Games. This totals to a rather hefty expense. We are not funded by British Diving and also due to our busy training schedules, training twice a day and our University timetable, we do not get time to work a part-time job. Therefore it can be hard to fund food, rent and fees.
We are currently relying on our student loan, which has helped us fund our successful sporting career thus far. But now that our University chapter is coming to an end, so will our loan. We will have no income and this will result in us having to stop the sport we love. The reason we started diving was to make it to the Olympics Games. It has not just been our goal but a dream we've had together since we both started diving in 2007.
We have set up this funding page as an opportunity for generous individuals to help us get to this amazing event. We would be grateful for any support that you would be willing to give us. Thank you for your time.
