World Challenge Malawi

Raise money for my daughter Eleanor's World Challenge expedition to Malawi in July 2018

We did it
On 8th March 2018 we successfully raised £400 with 21 supporters in 56 days

My name is Eleanor Partington-Lane, I attend Stanchester Academy in Stoke-sub-Hamdon Somerset and I am a Sea Cadet at TS Mantle VC in Yeovilton.

On the 16th July 2018, I will be taking part in a World Challenge expedition to Malawi, where I will be helping the community by undertaking voluntary work in a local school - e.g. teaching English to children and helping to build new facilities.

Malawi is a landlocked country in South-eastern Africa and is still a developing country.  Education is one of the most poorly funded but is the most important.  Throughout the challenge we will be working with the local people, to become familiar with their way of life and the problems they face.  We hope to help begin to change this by working in a school, providing lessons, equipment, songs, games, and sport.  We will be sharing ideas with the adults too, sharing recipes, delving into their culture and interacting with the locals.

The World Challenge scheme is designed to encourage teenagers like me to become more independent and build team and leadership skills by immersing us in challenging situations in an unfamiliar environment and culture.

In order to make this trip, I need to raise £3,000 by fundraising and sponsorship, so I've been very busy over the last few months doing car-washing, cake sales, fete stalls and all sorts of other things and to date but I am still a long way off meeting my target.

My next big fund raising activity is the 10K Easter Bunny run at Yeovilton.   The 10K Easter Bunny run is going to test my physical strength, stamina, and mental grit, an attribute I will need for the Malawi World Challenge. The race has no winners, or clocks to race against, it’s not about how fast I can cross the finish line it’s a challenge that emphasizes teamwork, helping each other through it , and accomplishing something so it will be great preparation for my World Challenge trip as these are just a few of the skills that I will need.

I am hoping that you will be able to help me complete this by donating to a good cause.   Any contribution at all will be massively appreciated.

Please help me raise some money for this fantastic cause.

Thank you
