I have always had an interest in woodworking from a very young age, I have completed a number of projects from building kitchen cabinets and doors to restoring old furniture, the problem is I've never had any real space to take on larger projects as I would generally be using my Garden workshop or the small workshop at my workplace. I came up with this idea a couple of years ago but never had any real time to pursue it, now with two children and one more on the way I feel if I don't go for it now I never will.
My aim is to provide a shared workspace within a fully equipped workshop and rent spaces out to professionals and novices alike. It will be an opportunity for businesses to continue to provide a great service to their clients by utilising the equipment and space and also for creative individuals to design, build and create bespoke pieces of furniture, art or whatever they have in mind.
I propose to offer different sized bays with workbenches to suit a range of different disciplines from cabinet makers to kitchen makers and furniture restorers.
The bays will be priced according to size and will be available on a daily, weekly and monthly basis and also longer terms according to the needs of the customer.
I believe that given the current climate and difficult times we are all facing this will be an opportunity for businesses who are struggling with their current workspace to meet rent demands and ongoing costs to be able to shift their operation to one of the packages I will be offering which will improve cashflow and hopefully save their business from collapsing.
Once more established I would like to explore working with the local colleges which maybe do not have specialist equipment to offer their young students. I will look to partner with colleges to allow use of the site at specific times/days so that students are getting the proper training and practical learning on a range of professional machines and equipment. Giving the students the best chance to succeed when graduating.
Funds raised will go towards securing adequate premises and to refurbish the unit into a suitable workshop.
Funds will also go towards the procurement of professional machines and equipment including dust extraction systems.
Any donation is greatly appreciated and will help make it possible for struggling businesses to continue to trade without the pressures of rising rents, cost of equipment and ever rising costs of utilities.
You will also be helping me achieve my dream, I will be forever grateful.
The name of business will be HBR workspace, the HBR comes from the first letters of my two boys' names and also my third boy who is due to be born in January.
Thank you for all your help and interest in my project.
